Only about 6 degrees here in Melbourne this morning, coldest morning since whenever or some such. Can't say I thought it felt that cold, no wind at all which helps.

Absolute cracker of a day now though :blacksunrays:

Good stuff, something so relaxing about seeing snow fall.

upload_2017-5-5_0-21-22.png

We had another chilly morning of 5.4 degrees but it warmed to a nice sunny 18 degrees.
Looks like a decent cold change coming in over Saturday arvo.
Rain and even possible thunderstorms.

Storms are very rare here in summer, let alone in Winter.
There is not enough hot and cold air colliding to form them.
However i remember as a kid one Xmas there was a crazy one with purple-ish lightening strikes.
The best one I've seen was when i visited Sydney, felt like the apocalypse.

Looks like Canberra & Melbourne are also hitting their winter stride now as well.

We're a long way off true winter here. Barely had a morning below zero yet. Starting to get a few coming up I guess, but until the minus 5s hit winter isn't real.
At least we're out of that awful summer though. Minus 5 is so much more comfortable than 35.

Can you help explain the ice storm over Blundstone yesterday? :(

Well the rain didnt come as hard as was expected only got 2.8mm out of the event.
Although it was a cool and blustery afternoon which would have helped our 1st qtr.
Kangas know how to play the wind at that venue.

Today is very cold with a few showers.
Currently 9.7 degrees with a windchill of 4.7

Currently 10 degrees hasn't got any warmer than 11 today.
Windchill of 8 degrees.
Feels like a typical London day lol.
Rain is about to come so that will cool things down even more.

Positively balmy over here in Melbourne, 19 degrees!!

Maximums have been pretty low.
However the minimums are around average but nothing to cold.
(Although wind chill does make it feel worse)

I noticed Melbourne has been a bit colder the last couple nights.
But much warmer maximum temps overall.

Week ahead for down here

Looks like a cold record has been broken in a place called Taralga in the NSW/ACT Tablelands.
Which is 845m above sea level
They had minimum set on 10th May of -10 degrees.
Which not only smashed their May record of -6.5 set in 1975 but also bested their all time record low of -9.6 set in 1982.
They also bested the old May record again on May 16 with a low of -8.0

Down my way it's looking a bit more mild over the next week or so.
Only significant thing happening is some decent rainfall on Saturday.
Which is widespread over most of the Eastern states of Australia.
We are still running right on average temps for May, take that global warming!

-4 this morning here in Canberra. Generally I don't mind the minuses it doesn't feel as cold as 1 or 2 degrees, but this morning was so cold I was shivering until midday.

And only a few months ago we were sweltering in 42 degrees.
