Also our wettest month is actually October and spring overall.
So far this winter it's been very dry.

Currently 3.7
windchill of -0.7

-2.4 here last night and -0.2 as I type this. Summer top temp reached 46 or so this year. Love the variety but prefer it as it is now thanks. Really easy to sleep when it's icy cold.

Not looking forward to tomorrow, cold and dry is fine. Minus 4 and rain is another thing.
Odds are the rain won't be first thing or the cloud cover would stop is getting that cold overnight. So all should be good. If not, its still better than summer.

We've had minus temps most nights over the last six weeks and I have never slept better. Waking up in the morning and getting ready for work is another matter. It's freezing indoors (4.4 yesterday morning) until the heaters start warming up the house.

We got down to -7 again this morning, unfortunately I couldn't sleep in, had to go to work. It was still -5 when I arrived.

In February we got to 42 which was one of the hottest day on record in Canberra, and on Saturday we got down to -9 which is one of the coldest days on record. Gotta love climate change.:D

Yep, the East Sale RAAF base BOM station logged that figure. Still minus five when I left for work at seven thirty.

Could be mistaken but thought I saw a White Walker trudging across the frosty paddocks on my way to work.

Just in time for the new GoT to :p

For warm weather lovers.
I'd say Broome looks the place to be this time of year.
There is always Darwin as well which is 30 degrees every day.

Sounds amazing.
The only good thing about winter is that its footy season.

Maxed out at 9.7 degrees yesterday.
Had some much needed rain overnight, accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Which was pretty cool to see in Winter of all times.

Min of 1.2 this morning making it our 4th consecutive 1 degree morning.
Will probably be a bit warmer overnight the rest of the week.

Can deal with the cold after spending years in the Mornington Peninsula and Canberra, and as someone who enjoys a cold shower or early morning run/walk, but was surprised to have 3 degrees at 10am in West Sydney the other day. That cold at that late, was really frosty. This was the morning after the Giants/Cats game only a few suburbs away.

April/May were unseasonably warm by my measure, but now we are into highs below 20 and lows of 3, your typical wintry conditions. I adored Canberra, therefore I don't mind a cold winter, and it does make it easier to sleep in a tad.

Even so, the older I get the more I prefer Summer to Winter, and abundant sunshine to overcast, even with those ridiculously sweaty weeks.

July has been much colder than the first half of June down here.

Last five days

Which has it around 2 degrees below average for July mins
and half a degree below for max temps.

Week ahead

Will be interesting to see if the rain eventuates on Friday.
It has been sunny, dry and calm pretty much every day for over a month.
Which is nice and all but leads to colder nights/frosts and we just need a good bit of rain and wind.

Currently 3.0 degrees.

Things I love about winter:

- sleeping
- footy
- overseas sports on tv are at their peak
- winter food kills summer food
- as does winter wine
- golf courses are easier to get on
- can cool down much quicker after a workout
- kids go to bed when they're told easier due to the dark
- there's no flies or mozzies around
- I can work around clothing to get to the right temp, rather than being constantly f****** sweltering
- hangovers are much easier to deal with in the cold
- I hate gardening. The garden tends to itself in winter.
- birds don't wake you up at 5:00am
- hayfever much more manageable or even non-existent (bad sufferer)

I'm a winter guy. I get around like a grump in summer like most people I know do in winter.

Agreed.
I work late afternoon and nights sometimes.
I hate it how it's sunny and warm until like 9:30 at night in summer

Still got a month to go.
It's been a colder winter here than 2016 but hasn't had the extremes 2015 did (so far)
Currently 5.1 degrees.
