With Fox Footy Channel showing every game from 2001, I thought it would be a good idea to discuss each game the Pies have played since then, just to keep the board rolling over the off-season. Every game, 2001-2005, going the same way as FFC, Round by Round, so we can keep a mixed discussion.

Round 1, 2003 I remember Richo's 1.6, it was just so funny knowing that when he had 1.3 to his name, that he would miss once again. I guess we didn't see the brighter side though. He kicked 6 goals to beat us in 02, and then 5 goals to beat us in 04.

Scott Cummings 5 goals, if only he had an injury free year!

Just as a slight discourse (yes its out of order I know :/), watching the 2003 QF from the AFL website...one guy we really miss when he's fit is Josh, he was in great form and played an awesome game. Same with Taz, Walls was climaxing watching him fully fit, even against his precious lions.

The one down side was Cole, he had a very good game as far as I could see, good effort for a young player in a final, only 1 direct turn over and gave away a couple of frees but looked like he was really up to it.

I hope he doesnt come back and bite us on the arse :(

He most likely will, it always happens, but the thing is, he was never going to ignite his career at Collingwood again, and I think it is a good sign to see players with potential leave to play footy at another team. Another thing is, we get another reason to see what Mick has done wrong to the side in the last two seasons. Letting the career of Cole at Collingwood disappear each day.

agree, josh was THE dominant ruckman of the second half of 2003, the only ruckman he struggles against are the bash & crash ruckman, just a shame that is who brisbane had in both years, josh has comprehensively beaten & spida, j.white in 03 & 04 when he was fit

we just need a big bang & crash ruckman to help him out, but we have stretch who is similar to josh!!

cole will hurt us, but he was ruined at collingwood because malthouse wants everybody to be a defender, some people just aren't suited! hopefully he gives it a rest with lonie & b.johnson as they too show that they could be better playing on the wings or middle pushing forward, play max, harry & tarkyn down back for fecks sake

I was there that game and watched the replay the other day as well. Walker did a good job on him, but if Richo kicked straight we would've been in trouble.

Cummings started well that year. Would've been interesting to see if he played the whole year. At the time, I wanted Adrian Fletcher.

nice work LF50

was watching the 2001 game against Hawthorn when it was on, Molloy's soccer of the ground from 20 out was pretty good

i cant believe Chad Rintoul played for us....what a waste of space

Oh please! He has probably won in the ruck 3 or 4 times in his 6 season career as a ruckman/forward. Even when he has won in the ruck he hasn’t given the midfield quality use. Write of last year but even so, Josh Fraser has proven to be an average ruckman at best. Perhaps he will improve and I’ve always rated him as a follower but I really haven’t seen any evidence that he will ever be a quality ruckman.

Regardless, in the 2nd half of 2003 he was brilliant. We were winning the clearances while Josh was rucking so I don't care if he didn't have a hand it in it because his around the ground work was brilliant and always found a way to sneak by his oponent to kick a goal, so he must of been doing something right in the ruck.

Molloy was underrated and was harshly judged in retrospective by the trade he was involved in. He was a 26/27 year old with a relatively good injury history, it's a shame his body couldnt' keep up and we only got one good year (a brilliant year in fact) out of him. His experience in this team would be invaluable, even if he only played for Williamstown.

Fraser might be a disappointment career wise considering he was a no.1 draft pick, but his qualities are shown outside of his game. He has leadership which in football is a quality, but also, is the most important player at Collingwood. He has the potential, he has the overall ability, and whenever he is missing from games, Collingwood goes missing also. He is capable of winning matches, and when he perform's, Collingwood perform's. He is our most valuable player, and trend's will show that.

I remember Chad Rintoul, but more as an Adelaide player. Was a slight favourite in which i had a keen interest, and also played for West Coast. Wasn't a great player, but was a good player. Never was on the fringe, as he was consistently doing a job each week, and not a job like Matty Lokan had, he was a good player who did something. Always remember looking at the injury list, and then the next year in the chunky AFL Book, that he was always outed with a migraine. Must have been a bloody big headache.

how old is josh?? 23

when do ruckman start dominating, if it is when they are 20 or 21 then i dont know much

perhaps saying the dominant ruckman was a tad over the top, but in the second half of 2003 josh was winning the ruck most weeks, when he was 21! yes played in two grand finals as the number 1 ruckman when he was 20 & 21 yrs of age and he came up against monsters, he was always going to lose

he has beaten everitt & jeff white convincingly, the only ruckmen he struggles against are the big bash & crash ruckmen

I loved Rintoul. Hard as nails, and a decent player.

Round 1 2001 was a great matchg. We were the best team all day until the final term. Freeborn, Bucks, Molly and Rintoul were best from memory.

Yeah, Josh was 1 of 2 people last year (2004) to beat Peter Everitt in the ruck, but he stood out, by not only having more hitouts, but he OWNED Spida. Brad Ottens was the other if anyone wanted to ask, and it was early in the season.

Just did Round 2, and accidently clicked the X instead of the _ so we will have to wait until I am in the mood, most likely later today, but not doing it now...that is the second time I have written so much and then just like that, has gone!
