I love the Big Bash and reckon cricket needed some serious challenging.

It is taking the game to a completely different place in terms of innovation and strategy in every aspect of the game. It has rejuvenated the sport enormously which it needed.

Take Glenn Maxwell as an example. I have only become aware of who he is thru watching the Big Bash and now consider him an extraordinary talent who I will watch at every opportunity. Because he played in the 50 over game last night I sat down to watch it - previously I may not have watched it.

And now having witnessed Faulkners innings I will be keeping an eye out for his next Big Bash performance.

I have bought back into the sport.

I don't mind T20 per se, but having 3 different forms of the game is to me diluting its appeal.

I wouldn't mind if a tour consisted only of Test matches and T20 matches. No JAMODIs at all

Then, every 4 years, the World Cup could be THE 50 over tournament. This might in turn re-raise the prestige of the World Cup, which I think has gone way down in the last 10-15 years.

T20 has somehow legitimised 50 over cricket as a more 'pure' cricket (by comparison with T20 only, of course). A less random way of obtaining a winner than T20, more convenient than Tests, it could bestow legitimacy on the World Cup as a more meaningful competition.

I much prefer One Day games over T20.

Things is with ODI, is they just saturated them for a time - like a 10 match series or something. Got far too routine.

The Bowlers come into the game more in ODI.

In any case, I don;t think I'll ever escape the feeling that a T20 match is a bit like a carnival game, a novelty. Almost like junk food.I suspect it's a bit like that for the players.

That was just awesome last night. Knifing England and pinching the match.

I don't want to be too critical of another person's opinion, but what on earth has Maxwell ever shown to suggest he is an extraordinary talent?

Maxwell averages 27 with the ball and has a strike rate of 35 at test level Clearly the best figures of any Australian spinner since Shane Warne. Was that what you were looking for? :-D

Anyone know why Damien flemming didn't play more test matches? In 20 tests he took 75 wickets @26 with a sub 3 economy rate and a strike rate of 55. Those are world class stats! As a similar bowling type his stats are better than jimmy Anderson though obviously played far less matches.

Sanity prevails in the dropping of Bailey...but not so sure selectors can be given the all clear given the rest of the squad. Doolan and Faulkner are ok. Marsh? It's just another case of picking a player based on one day form. While I understand the desire to give Pattinson every chance of playing test cricket he has no form. If you are going to pick him then why pick a second bowler who has not played first class cricket this summer? Bird has little runs on the board at test level in his limited opportunities. Could easily have taken coulter-nile so we have a fit and in form fast bowler on tour.

After recently reading his book, his body was shot. He had a Xavier Ellis body and it just kept breaking down on him time after time after time.

If you're a test standard player, good form is good form. Jury is well and truly out on Marsh, but he has a couple of decent test innings to his name before that massive form slump.
Bailey is the prime example of a player who's game wasn't up to scratch. Good luck to him though. Was worth giving him a shot.

Pattinson is just so highly rated, and rightly so. I doubt he'll get a game unless injury strikes a couple down, but they must want to just get him under McDermott's wing.

Toss of a coin I reckon between Coulter-Nile and Bird. In the little bit I've seen of Bird since his return from injury, I think he's been impressive, as had CN. Probably won out on the sheer fact he's got a small bit of experience.

The good thing the new regime did with Bailey was give him a decent crack at it. Pity Khawaja and Hughes weren't shown the same respect.

I genuinely hope the Marsh gamble pays off because I like watching him bat when he's going.

Yeah, you're right, winning brings certain luxuries. Still would have been handled better than Hughes and Special K.

Best bit of fortune ever. Timing was perfect. Wade wasn't too bad considering he was keeping up to pace bowlers. It's a tough gig. He is a lot better back from the stumps. In saying that he needs to improve if he is to stay in aus colours.

Great finish to the match though.

Wade loses concentration for mine. it's not just his technique. Some of his misses are big misses.

Seeing some of the other keepers around the shop in the BB, and I know that's not a great measure, there are quite a few I'd have before him in Australian test colours again.
