Still once this duke ball gets old, this ground is too soft to generate reverse swing, so we should start to make hay.

7/99 at tea. Just woeful

I don;t believe we have, in general, the batting line-up to weather a green pitch and conditions for a couple of hours.

I know winning the toss in England and batting is the ay to go generally, but yeah.

I think you're right, and it's been the case since 2005. However for some reason our tail seem to perform ok... If we can somehow get 150+, this game may be salvageable

And Mitch goes Booooom.

Facing being bowled out for the second time in a match for under 200. Glad I didn't bother watching any of this test match. Terrible effort. Will be time to blood some new players after this series (whatever the result). Maddinson is my choice to replace Rogers but expect Marsh to come in. Burns is the right choice to replace Voges. No idea if Clarke will ever be good again so maybe need a third...I assume selectors will pick him for at least the next summer regardless.

I see Bancroft has just scored 150 against India A. Had a good season last year and may be a possibility.

I'm not sure he is ready yet. Like to see a bit more consistency (based on his numbers). Not seen him play at FC level but 20 odd FC matches is not much of an apprenticeship to build a test career on.

can michael clarke be anymore of a dickhead?

drops a catch off starc then takes him out of the attack the next balll. The sooner he is removed from the australian team, the sooner the players will respect themselves and their abilities and the quicker we will be dominant.

Thought he should have had Johnson on earlier too.

I'm sad to see the apparent decline of Clarke. When on song, I used to love watching him bat.

The ball was bending and hooping everywhere with starc and johnson and he bowls Lyon every over of the new ball.

When clarke single handedly saw to the exclusion of symonds and hussey because they disagreed with the captaincy he lost me, I don't care how many runs he was scoring you can't get them all yourself if no one wants to play for you.

he was on his way in Cardiff till that pissweak dismisal to Moeen Ali. Reckon he's not far off from another score - but yes, absolutely shithouse this test. That dropped catch too was bloody ordinary

Feel so much more gutted by losing this test than losing to the Tigers. I do not want to lose the Ashes. I hate England!
I think we have as much chance as the Hawks getting top 2 - it will take something extraordinary.

Just all round bad cricket

Maybe a bit big headed from the Lords result?

Starc is not a test bowler. Voges is not a test batsman

We miss Harris:(

Media calling 'politely' for Clarke to go. I find it hilarious that Clarke averages 28 across his past 8 matches (scoring a single 100) yet Watson goes for 3 years averaging about the same and their was a host of support for him to continue!

Anyway, I think the article is right in that Clarke has the air of someone who is giving it his best and it isn't good enough. Kind of like Ponting - can still play all the shots but the reflexes were not quite as good anymore and when facing good bowling in unfavourable conditions for batting his weakness is exposed. Very sad but the end comes for everyone. I hope he can recapture his confidence and make some runs in the final two tests of this series and then make a decision ahead of next summer. Australia's problem is that Rogers is going and Voges doesn't look like he is going to average much over 30 at test level after a terrific start. That means we need to find three batsman that are up to the level. I assume Marsh is still in the frame with Burns a good choice but really replacing three batsman, two of which who are very experienced, is going to be a painful ride.

Not sure many can understand how Watson lasted so long!

As for Clarke, I don't think it's simply bad form or low confidence, rather I think his back is just ****ed. I'm not sure if there is any coming back for him. He deserves to finish out the series and given a chance to retire of his own volition though.
