Great to see our batsman (in recent times) going on and making big hundreds (Voges, burns today, usman, smith is fantastic at it).Steve Smith has played 41 tests for an average of almost 60. Quite amazing.
Don Bradman's average as captain: 101.51, the best by anyone who captained at least 10 timesSteve Smith has played 41 tests for an average of almost 60. Quite amazing.

When they are in, making the most of it. Should be aiming to get 550 here
Agreed.Really enjoyed watching Burns bat today. He seems to beeliminating that half-shot no-feet movement waft outside off, and the unnessary defending to balls outside off too. He just looks tighter. Like how he's been concentrating too.
Agreed.
If only Shaun Marsh could do the same.
amazing innings, but a bit ridiculous, really. It was an absolute slog-a-thon. Pretty much danced down the wicket every ball, and was streaky as hell. Personally I wouldn't put it down as one of the great innings, but certainly one of the most memorable.Fastest ton (in balls faced) in test history by McCullum. That's a way to bow out from test cricket.
both the Marsh boys are flawed geniuses. Def wouldn't want either to be batting/bowling for your lifeShaun Marsh is damn frustrating. If he was on your trivia team he'd be able to answer questions on the dynastic order of ancient Sumerian kings, but just stare blankly when asked what was the capital of England.
His average, except in the IPL (but that's trusting one of Mugabe's economic statements) is so damn mediocere and it seems to laugh in the face of all those experts who seem to fete him.

Absolutely. Still raw, but a lot to like. Has esp impressed me with the ball. That blinder of a catch he took off McCullum though sums up his career. The cricket gods haven't been wholly kind. Though he's only 24 - so he's doing alright.I think Mitch will develop into a very fine player. I've seen enough to think if he has some luck, keeps working at it etc, he could be anything.
I'd like to see him batting at 7 at the moment. He just doesn't really look comfortable at 6. Then again, wasn't the same thing said about Smith on this thread a few years ago?I think Mitch will develop into a very fine player. I've seen enough to think if he has some luck, keeps working at it etc, he could be anything.
Yes, they've set us up well there. Thank goodness Pattinson is a lefty.Really bad batting to have four people fall to that pull-shot trap.
Famous last words.Yes, they've set us up well there. Thank goodness Pattinson is a lefty.
Famous last words.
I'm watching bits, then checking phone etc. Practicing my juggling, so to speak.
They've bowled a far more disciplined line - well, what I've seen - today. Short of a length stuff.
The scene is set for our fast men. I reckon Pattinson is a better second innings bowler so things might get pretty interesting. A nasty hour before tea, hopefully. And another one goes...
