6/30

Kulusekera bowling medium pace innies and being treated like Malcolm Marshall.

And faux all rounder Mitch Johnson cannot lay a bat on him. Jimmy Anderson just wet his pants from laughter.

Ball starts swinging and look what happens.... very few Australian batsman can handle swing, which in itself is awful.

Hopefully Wade can show some grit and grind out a score. Lucky its only a one dayer....

Ah but Mess, its all part of our India strategy. We have got them in two minds now whether the Indians start watering the pitch (which after the last two ODI's we have showed we can't bat on) or produce a dust bowl (given we have no spinners).

Dont forget half of the test side looked very poor against Herath in the last test !!

Our cricketers really do seem to lack the ability to play swing bowling and spin for that matter. We all saw England tear us apart with Swing bowling years back and yet I'm not seeing any improvement from anyone in the order thus far. 150 would be a good effort given our current position

Well we do have a squad of 29 in the rotation.

Just watching All Rounder Mitch, I'd say 150 is a pipe dream.

7/35. All Rounder Mitch bowled.

Hahaha... just got out of a meeting and saw the score. LOL.

Just popped across the road to the pub to check out a couple of overs. A bit of pace and bounce in the wicket, but it wasn't left uncovered, that's for sure.

Fairly typical Brisbane pitch I'd have thought.

SL have been good; Aus batsmen inept.

But no run outs. That's the main thing.

Funny thing is, had the Aussies taken their chances in the field, they may just have won !

Another quality meaningless ODI we'll have forgotten about next week.

"Meaningless ODI" ... tautology.

Australian cricket is getting exactly what it deserves. They are stupidly neglecting the Sheffield Shield competiton, the greatest nursery of talent in world cricket, and catering for idiots who love to see the ball repeatedly smashed in the air. Other people may enjoy watching over-the-hill former stars like Warne making fools of themselves, but I don't.

This time of the year is hell to serious cricket supporters. The Tests are over, no Shield matches being played, just a series of ODIs and Big Trash. Added to this the arrogance in believing Australia can field any old group of players and still win. Oh how the Sri Lankans must be enjoying humiliating Australia after being insulted by them.

I don't know why we've done this. Australia were once the envy of the cricket world. We aren't any more, and we've only got ourselves to blame.

Sorry for the ranting, but I genuinely love cricket, and I hate to see what's happening to it.

Unfortunately the Big Bash is a necessary evil; they need an income stream for the players beyond state and national contracts and the only way the franchises can effectively contract talent is to play it in a block. They'll either lose these kids to other sports or to the international T20 circuit a la Dirk Nannes.

I can't watch it, personally. Like 50 over cricket, it becomes homogenised as teams risk manage and strategise the uniqueness out of it. I'd like to see CA pay fast bowlers not to play T20; the game is shifting to taking the pace off the ball and despite the musings of renowned mastermind Shane Warne, bowling single over spells over 90 minutes at full pace is likely to cause some injuries (oh hai Pat Cummins)

I echo much of what's just been posted. In the pursuit of dollars, not only has the game been devalued, but, and most tragically its core asset: the players and their skills and motivation. It's eating away at cricket itself.

Back to the match: can anyone explain why Mitchell Johnson, who had taken 3/11 or thereabouts, was not bowled after the tea break? Beggars belief.

Can only assume Clarke had given the game up and wanted to see what Henriques had to offer (which is a unique ability to be hit for four quite regularly). Seriously, if Pakistan had put up this effort with the dropped catches, missed run outs, catches that weren't referred, and baffling captaincy, there would be cries of match fixing.

I didn't see the game, and I heard about Johnson being taken off only this morning. The way things are going at the moment, I wouldn't mind betting that it was a directive to Clarke, either to rest Johnson, or as you say, to make sure Henriques was given a bowl.

Clarke's too good a captain to have done that on his own. He would have gone for the killer punch. As I've said, I'm very worried about the path Australian cricket is walking at the moment.

Must have been saving him for the final overs..... Just extraordinary. Perhaps our ambivalence towards this pyjama game is also reflected in Clarke's approach.

Now here's a really cynical and arrogant theory..... Maybe CA want to ensure a live series right down to game 7 (or how ever many games there are?) after the hit to their coffers inflicted by the short tests
