Watson to look like a million dollars - dominant off front and back foot, crunching drives, scything cuts - racing to thirty odd in quick time before playing around his pad and being given out LBW.

The obligatory vanity referral will follow. And fail. Rinse and repeat for another 30 tests.
At least he didnt refer this time :p

Hopefully this is his last.
Poms set him up beautifully.

Just so predictable. Chloe Saltau had an amazing stat in this morning's Sunday Age.

" Shane Watson's part in Australia's humiliating collapse at Lord's was depressingly familiar.
Setting aside the decision to burn a review on a plumb lbw decision - he had an alibi in Chris Rogers this time - Watson can't be exonerated of failing to correct two major flaws in his game.
One is technical - Watson's front pad might as well have a bullseye painted on it - the other mental.
Of all the batsmen in Test history who have made 2000 Test runs or more, Watson gets out between 30 and 60 more often than any - in 36 per cent of his innings."
He's hit 2 centuries in 43 tests.

She writes well about cricket, I think. Got some good insight.

And another wicket tumbles. This is embarrassing.

This will be over today.

Swann is going to feast on these two left handers :(

And another one bites the dust.

What is "professional" sport coming to? Batsmen who lack footwork and appropriate shot selection, footballers who can't kick goals from the goalsquare ...... whatever they're paying these precious little darlings is way too much. Give me the unprofessional era anyday ... when batsmen actually knew how to bat.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. It was introduced 2 or 3 years ago. I don't agree with it, but if you get hit on the pad on the full, the umpire has to assume the ball will continue in a straight line. So, if you get hit in line, even through the ball was possibly drifting down leg, it's out.
You don't have that quite right. The umpire has to assume the ball won't spin and continue on its current line (shortened as go straight on). The umpire can't assume the ball will straighten to hit the stumps which is what was needed for that ball to hit the stumps. The decision was incorrect.

We need Clarke and Uzi make some sort of partnership. Just so our batsman can have some belief that making runs is possible.

Not sure what we do next test with the bowlers. Pattinson out of form. Siddle being ok. Harris great in one innings and ordinary in the second innings. Agar? Can't see him playing after not taking a wicket. Smith has show more with the ball. Lyon will need to come in.

Unfortunately I do have it correct. They brought it in about 2-3 years ago. The moment the ball strikes on the full, the umpire has to assume it will continue on a straight path.

That's incorrect AH. The law is that they have to assume that will continue to travel on exactly the same line that it is currently on without any chance of further movement from that line.

The law doesn't assume that if the ball is drifting down leg, but hits you on the full in line, that it will all of a sudden straighten up towards the stumps. We have been over this extensively in our league because of the confusion.

Nah, Bobby.

Only Clarke averages over 40 in our side. England have six batsmen who average over 40.
He averages 45. Only retired veteran I can think of running around over there..... I'm not serious though.
Maybe Boof should pull on the whites.

Prior keeps as good as Haddin

Glad we brought in a better keeper in Haddin hey! How many runs has he saved us already.............what with dropping Bell on the way to his 100 in the first test and then watching Root's nick fly by in this one.

He ticks all the boxes we wanted. Good keeper, responsible bat, leader.

No you don't. The rule was brought in, but your misconception about how it's applied is a common one.

This is a national disgrace. How can an Australian sport go from hero to -zero in less than 10 years?

As long as the Sheffield Shield competition is relegated to back yard cricket Australia will never rise again. As long as 20/20 is the major competition Australian cricketers will be the most over paid failed sportsmen in Australia's history.

Khawaja has a good back foot game. Like how he plays late. Leaves late too.

Utter crap shot from Clarke. To glance the ball to leg slip is inexcusable.

Very costly loss of concentration.

And now we fold like a deck of cards
