Yeah shocking effort. 9 wickets falling to spin is also a worry. Clarke better have a great tour if we are to look competitive!

Watson and Cowan both get starts again. On form I'd have Watto ahead of Cowan if Warner gets up. Are we now the worst team for running between the wickets in the world? We seriously suck at it. Seem to get one a match these days.

Not while Pakistan still play cricket.

Though at the moment it's as bad as the 78-9 period for runouts.

Only hope of being marginally competitive is if Clarke calls correctly at the toss of the coin. It'll be an absolute rout if we have to bat last.

India $2+ to win test 1... Money for Jam?

Thats unaustralian Boonie. Shame on you.

Meanwhile, HJ wanders down to the TAB to wack a couple of pineapples on the Indians.

Aaah, Rick Darling and Graeme Wood...good times, good times...

Has anyone sent the selectors a memo saying we are playing in India.. not at the Gabba?

Seriously, playing 3 quicks plus Moises and only Lyon as the spinner so help me god.

BTW.. in the first two tour games, ours Spinners have taken 13 wickets to our Quicks 7.

Also gone for around 800 runs as well compared to probably 200. I don't mind us picking the quicks & Henrique. Our best bowlers are our pacemen, and just cause you can spin the ball doesn't mean you'll be a success in India.

Yep, better to keep them 0/200 than all out for 400

Actually, I remember a test at the SCG where Border, playing in only his second test, inexplicably ran out perennial rabbit Allan Hurst. It was a suicidal single & not even at the end of the (8 ball) over.

The team for tomorrow dangerously looks like 5 out, all out.

David Warner, Ed Cowan, Phillip Hughes, Shane Watson, Michael Clarke (capt), Matthew Wade (wk), Moises Henriques, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc, James Pattinson, Nathan Lyon.

Hope Henriques goes well.

Fixed.

Seriously though, Lyon will struggle as our No.1, let alone Doherty. No point playing spinners for spinners sake. Not suggesting I think Moises should be in either but you have to pick the best bowlers and we barely have one spinner good enough to play. We certainly don't have two.

India prepares turning dust bowls and we play 4 openers, three of which have genuine concerns over their ability to play spin at test level. Not convinced we need a medium pace all rounder in India. We need spuddy spinners. Wade should not have to bat above Moises.

Why doesn't SOK get a gig as a spinner? I mean he's from NSW too so should be a walk up. I haven't seen much of him but his record stands up against everyone else they try out.

SOK is a flat, round-arm spinner who doesn't get much flight, or seemingly turn. His weapon is control and consistency. Will that work against international batsmen, especially those from the sub-continent used to big turning/deviation bowlers?

I saw his records a few years back and was looking forward to watching him bowl, but he looked very pedestrian (may have just been an off day). It's difficult to argue for another based on performance, but i think it says more about the average Australian's ability against spin, than it does about O'Keefe's ability.

That said, his recent numbers (2011 IIRC) weren't anything great - perhaps another purple patch of form will see him getting an opportunity.

I think you've nailed it right there, Simon.

So like Doherty but with better numbers?

Our spinning stocks really are poor.
Like pretty much every spinner we have! Not one of them turns the ball much. I'd sooner give him ago than return to Doherty or Beer or any other failed test player.

Shame Holland can't stay on the park. Hoping one of these new spinners can come on over the next season or so.

Does India play 4 spinners at Perth?

I have no problems with Moises playing on the basis that he is the third quick.

I laughed today in the HUN where Clarke said that he and Warner will fill in the spinners spot. This from two guys coming back from injury.. I love it.

Fazza ripping through NSW

Not to be mixed up with this guy..
