So, for those of you more cricket-inclined than myself, what do(can?) we do in this situation?
I imagine that given the first day was washed out it's highly likely it'll a draw, regardless of how long the Indians can stay in for as they have to bowl us out again? Even if that's the case, what can the bowlers do to try and break this opening partnership firstly? Our 400, compared to the shit our batsmen had been dealing up looked an improvement initially, but if their openers manage to hit the 400mark by themselves, suddenly it doesn't look any better than the 200's the team have been scoring.

Given that those playing all submitted their homework, think it shows it worked a treat.

Bring in Lehmann to coach and leave the essays to the kids at school.

Spud... I think India will win this. We will roll over as per usual in the second dig.
Oh, really? I didn't realise it was possible to still lose this given we lost a day haha. 283-0 and almost a double century from a freshman...incredible. Thanks for the tip.

Loved the subtle dig in the comment above the quoted, well played ;):thumbsu:

India 3/984 (dec) 145 overs

Aus 2nd innings 206 -63 overs

India by an innings and 351 runs.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!
If they get even close to that just put the rest of the blokes on a plane and don't even bother with the second innings.

Australian cricket .... just goes to show what happens when you turn away from a proven formula and hand everything over to university puddings with plenty of degrees and no idea. If only someone like Ian Chappell was cricket supremo in this country, there'd be a lot of out-of-work coaches and sports scientists.

He'd bring in a genuine cricket brain, someone like Darren Lehmann and he'd say, "Forget political correctness, just do what has to be done".

I'd bring the whole lot home after this Test, and fly over an Under 19s team so we can see if anything's in the tank.

It's been horrible, hasn't it?

When Starc and Smith are your top scorers, and doing it easy compared to the specialised batsmen, you know there's something seriously wrong.

So many quality bowlers at state level, and this tour we've taken 22 wickets so far.

Genuinely think Arthur is horrible, just too many facepalm moments already.

Mate, if Arthurs isn't sacked after this debacle, then we really need to ask questions as to what the hell is it the Australian Cricket Board are trying to achieve. If it's to make a laughing stock out of our Test team then they've succeded beyond their wildest dream.

We're almost at a point where I'd expect Zimbabwe to clean us up.

Is it really Arthurs fault?? Or have we simply not got the talent at the moment??

I'm not convinced it is. Beyond the notions of leadership, culture and whatever influence he has over selecting teams/squads.

For me our issues stem back to two things: selections, and lack of batting talent.

You think Steve Waugh would ever consider coaching?
Replacing Arthurs with S Waugh wouldn't make an ounce of difference. The problems are systemic and emanate from the top of CA down. Someone of Waugh's ilk driving change at board and executive level might be what's needed

No idea why Lehmann is suddenly considered the panacea.

We have far too much bowling talent to not be competitive anywhere in the world.

No doubt, we are blessed with bowling talent, at least with our quicks. Pattinson, Starc, Bird, Siddle, Coulter-Nile, Cutting, M Johnson, plus Sandhu who looks a likely prospect show we have some real quality. Spinning wise, not as much, Ahmed looks a likely prospect, SOK seems the best in the Shield at the moment, Cam Boyce, Adam Zampa are a couple of likely leggies whilst Jon Holland seemed ikely to be capped before his injury early this year.

Unfortunatly, the depth in batting isn't quite as plentiful so all a team has to do is take time and grind out the runs, they can usually rely on a batting collapse at some stage to win a match/series.
