Whatever Clarke has in mind, it becomes easier if we clean these 3 wickets up quickly. Can't afford them to bat 1-2 sessions and add 150+ runs.

We need a lead of 180-200 after the first innings. Clean up the tail quickly and then it's in Clarkes hands as to when we declare

Assuming it takes us the whole session to roll the final wickets, reckon Clarke will want a couple of overs at them before tea. So lets assume its two overs plus two overs for the change of innings leaves us with 26 overs for the second session. England will do their go slow shoes off / sawdust tricks so two less overs so it will be 24 overs.

I would move Warner to the top of the order and let he and Watson do what they do best and tee off.

We have nothing to lose here (the Ashes is already gone) so don't be surprised seeing Clarke setting the Poms a low 300 target. Worrying

Still can't believe the draw is only $1.30. Load up!

Hey Broad and the rest of the poms, its not out because he didnt hit it. Bunch of sillys

I can understand Rogers staying as opener even with Warner moving up because he's really a specialist opener and less flexible than all the others bats. On top of that he had the scoreboard ticking along nicely in both innings anyway..... BUT, surely Watson had to be 3. Isn't this just the type of situation he is actually built for? Despite his test match failings, he has clearly been our best T20 and ODI bat for a few years.

Agree. I like the fact Warner opened as this is the situation that he should thrive on. One day game essentially.

I would have gone
Rogers
Warner
Watson
Clarke
Then whoever depending on situation and how quick we are chasing runs. Probably Haddin

Four runs per over is all we need really. That will give us a lead of 300 at tea.

We can afford to rest up Watson's back since its made from the same batch as Ellis' genetics

No need to save wickets though. We only have another hour or two to bat. Lets get it to 8 an over. An extra 30 or 40 could make all the difference.

This business of going off and on after spells is crap.

ICC need to look at this. Also the over rates have been abysmal and keep getting worse

Yep. As Warney just said, they've bowled 21 overs for the session with just 20 minutes left and the spinner has bowled from one end the whole time. Joke. They've had physios, players going off, bowlers pulling out of run ups.... Should be a penalty.

******* lazy Clarke

Yuk. Makes you wonder if he's switched on to batting or overly concerned about the timing of the declararion. Had the non grounding of the bat earlier that was sloppy too.

Well, bed time I guess. Hope to wake up to see we managed to set 350+ and have at least 2 or 3 wickets.

On a side note - the dislikable muppet Broad - better bat than bowler.

It's the part of cricket I'll never understand. The umpires have the power to prevent these things from occuring, and yet they rarely ever do.

More bloody rotations than an AFL game.

A couple of rules Id bring into international cricket...

  • If you go off, you don't get a replacement fieldsman.
  • No more extra staff coming on the ground. Piss these water boys off everytime somebody calls for a replay. Thats why we have drinks breaks.
  • If a player is hurt they leave the field and play continues. Batsman return at the fall of the next wicket.
  • If you then don't bowl 14 overs per hour (Ill be generous here since DRS can slow things down a touch) then you have to start to impose a run penalty of sorts. 10 runs for every over behind the 14 per hour.

Unless the umpires start growing some balls, they will be out of a job shortly. They have a responsiblilty to the game and the paying public to keep the game moving. Dicky Bird and Shep never put up with this shit.
