Geeez our bowlers are going to have to have really big series for us to win. Our batsman just look so poor at the moment
Exactly why I thought the series was still very alive after that first test.
They have gone to school on Lab , choking him around middle/off .
Smith looks out of sorts , sounds like hub life has really messed up his ocd batting mannerisms out of games.
No Warner and our major run sources are gone.
The rest look like getting out at anytime , bar Wade who really has looked the safest batting out of position.

Indias bowling is quality and we currently have no real answer .

Smith doesn't play we lose the Ashes. There is daylight between him and the next best batsman, who happens to be Wade.

Perhaps it is time for the selectors to wake up a look at the up and coming talent instead of giving more chances to players who simply are not up to it.

Patterson and Pucovski must play this summer.

Not convinced about Labuschagne but he deserves a few more tests.

What can you say about Warner. He will likely turn it around once back in Oz.

Bancroft - no.
Harris - no.
Head - no.
Khawaja - ??

Marsh, let's not get carried away with his 5 for.
Just to look back 15 months. Same issues. Same solutions.
Labuschagne got his few more tests and made the most.
Puc and Patterson still required.
Green is worth persisting with.
Harris may be worth another shot.

Not a huge fan of Finch in the long game, but wonder why he could not be selected to partner/replace Warner.

I agree about Harris. Bring him in and Warner if fit. Wade to bat 5. Burns and Head dropped.

Heads the perfect example of where the batting is at.
At debut it was clear he had talent but also clear he had numerous technique and brainfade issues.
Since debut he has been a consistent member of the side.
I have really seen zero improvement in any of those weak areas .
Sides have 3-4 weakness's too attack, for a decent test bowling libeup thats childs play.

Puc must play. Wade may not survive. Agee to drop Burns and Head.

Yep Burns and Head out but got a feeling Head will survive .

Have heard Puc probably doesn't play despite being cleared but I would be playing him .
If he doesn't play your next best opener which is Harris.

Wade a better option back in the middle order despite some good work opening .

I would seriously look at Renshaw as another option now too.

Look at our batting right now. Our main guns in Smith (totally out of form), and Labuschagne (has come back to the field and is only just getting by). We are relying so heavily upon Warner coming back and injecting life back into the batting. If he has a rough period as well, we are screwed.

Without one of those 3 basically making a big 100 its hard to see us posting a really large score .

Labuschagne is a very interesting one. Incredible start to his career and was always going to flatten out .
I think he will end up being a 40-45 average type player.

Fantastic day today. Unfortunately I didn't see much as I had my local cricket, but saw the scores coming through. Let's hope for a lead of around 350-400 and then bowl the Indians out.
Cummins really is death by a thousand cuts, doesnt bowl a bad ball and always gets something extra from the deck others dont.

Think 250 plus will be a tough 4 innings chase

Manipulation of the rules by India one has to say.
Admittedly my memory is failing these days but I seem to recall there used to be a rule that a sub could not be wicketkeeper.

So Pant miraculously recovers from an injury that prevented him from keeping in the second innings to come out and play a blinder to put India in a position where they needed 128 in about 42 overs to win. They shut up shop immediately and failed to get even half way.

Yep, exciting stuff.

I believe the rule got changed a few years ago, India exploited it nicely .
Better keeper got to keep , better batsman got to bat and swung the game
