Boonie has tested positive. Wonder what that means for the Sydney Test?

Shouldn't mean anything, everyone is going to test positive at some point, cases will be flying around left right and center. Need to get on with life.

Head positive also, wonder who will come in and bat no 5 ?

Or do we play 5 bowlers instead - Starc, Hazelwood* Cummins Lyon and Swepson? Given we tour the subcontinent twice next year might be worthwhile giving Swepson a game.

Assuming Hazelwood is fit and they don't rest Starc. Otherwise Boland clearly gets a second test

I don't think you bother with 5 bowlers when you've got 4 bowlers and Green, to me that just getting too cute at home to England.

Yeah, nah. Go for the clean sweep. Pick best side available. No unnecessary risks.

As for Swepson, take him on tour and if he adapts to the wickets over there, then give him a game on form.

Not likely, the SCG isn't the spinners paradise that it once was. NSW have only picked one spinner for most games over the last couple of years and relied on part timers to fill in. Also along with our team of fast bowlers we are suddenly finding nice green pitches to play on. Wouldn't surprise me to find a nice green SCG pitch in a couple of days. The Poms are having a lot of problems against our quicks, so we need to keep the pressure on, after all we want to be in contention for the ICC World Test Championship in 2023. Easing up to allow Swepson a game shouldn't be considered. Swepson will get his chance on the subcontinent.

Agree, Swepson should do his trial/practice for the sub continent on the sub continent .

Not a deck that was spin friendly around 15 years ago

The hands of stone, do you have any information about Pukovski's return today?
Heard he got 40 odd but probably more importantly got through .

Was against Kingston who are a weaker premier club though.

I know CA are wanting CV to get him back in asap , they see him and or Hunt/Street as the opening prospects.

Thank you for that.

I really like him and hope he can get back to his best.

Fingers crossed .
He is a potential generation talent who makes big big scores.

England are very concerned about Green for the next 10-12 years. They think he can literally win us series against them long term .

Puc in solves the opening issue and locks two high end talent players in the lineup.

Green gives me distinct Steve Waugh talent vibes.

Brilliant Test Match over the previous 5 days, it was a privilege to witness it. Bring on Hobart!
It was .

You wouldnt know it reading the cricket board though . Not sure if most are just whingers or 'couch' Bradmans who actually have a limited idea on the game......probably both .

Puts a few autopsy threads to shame

I think he will be a more consistent Andrew Flintoff , maybe less dynamic but more reliable long term .
It's the way that both Green and Waugh were seen more as successful bowlers than bats in the early stages of their careers.

I'm looking forward to the day that Green backs himself from ball 1 to make a big total in the first innings a la Steve Waugh in 1989.

Please, don't get me started on the cricket board. I've never had the misfortune to witness such a gaggle of clueless idiots in my life. The pure anger and hatred expressed from time to time is mind boggling and I wonder where the moderators are. I had to leave the forum several times over the past 5 days, I just couldn't stand it any longer. Why people pretend to be Test cricket fans when they are clearly there to just try and annoy people is beyond me.

Yes, I see it that way as well. Not sure I could see Green notching the 100s that Waugh did over his career, a comparison with someone like Flintoff is closer to the mark. Either way, we've got ourselves a very good Test player and he's only 22.
