I think they got it right although Green would have been deserving .

Head came in 3/12 on a seamer and scores a ton , without that every chance Australia make 150 .

If Green snagged a few more wickets and got another 50 , I think he gets it.

I think Green will get plenty by the time he is done
 
I find it amusing that one of the Poms refused a skin-fold test and accused the team of fat-shaming. Fat-shaming? He is a professional cricketer FFS. What sort of professional sportsman pulls this shit? No wonder they got creamed.

Don't see what the point is in doing skinfolds for cricketers personally. Bit of extra girth never hurt Boony:

Indicative of the tour
  • no prep , its hard enough adjusting from UK to Australian conditions and vice versa
  • Broad and Anderson undermining Root
  • Poor decisions at selection from day 1

There were a lot of West Indian players on the fringe of the Test side that were looking for a means of making some reasonable money out of cricket. Hartley Alleyne was one such player who went on the Rebel Tour of South Africa in 83-84. He was banned for life in the West Indies and ended up playing all around the world in the following years. He played district cricket in Melbourne for St Kilda and Sub District for Brighton. He was frightening.
I played against Nigel Murch when he was at Malvern. He was very nasty and intimidating to face, but terrific after the game.
As far as measuring bowlers speeds there is a free phone app that you can use. Apparently not 100% accurate but great for free and gives a consistent reading. I have used it at times when coaching. Very deflating for some self styled quicks.

It also travels over the shortest distance. Something Thommo figured out, but most of the other bowlers in Kerry Packer's famous speed test didn't.

We had a young fella at my club when I was back Ccing .
Very talented and zippy but the guys were quite taken aback when asked I suggested he would be 125 maybe 130kph .

We were lucky enough to get hold of a speed gun and through a 3 over spell his quickest was 128 and averaged around 125.

The other 'quicks' were in the early 120s.

The good thing was they all started working on there craft and became better bowlers for it

Last time I will watch, or even have interest, in the men's team.

If I want to watch a bunch of girls play cricket, I may as well stick with Meg Lanning and her team.

They’re cricketers not soldiers - why would they need a taskmaster as coach? Being a professional athlete doesn’t mean you have to put up with a dickhead leader who doesn’t get the best out of you.

Langer’s results were abysmal. The T20 World Cup and Ashes victories came when he had taken a backseat role. The series loss to India last summer should have seen him gone so he should be glad he got an additional 12 months. Couldn’t be happier that he and Paine are both gone - closes the chapter on a dismal period of Aussie cricket. Just hope the new leadership comes up with a way to play swing bowling so we don’t lose the Ashes.

Yeah, nah. They're a bunch of soft, entitled prats. If they were so professional, as you put it, they would not have had a coach need to push them. Seems the Poms could do well to hire Langer.

I have no opinion either way on Langer, but agree that it is good that Paine is gone. Bear in mind, both Paine and Langer took over after Sandpapergate when the world needed to see a significant change in the team behaviour.

I don’t get why a coach who doesn’t get along with the playing group means the players are soft and entitled. This is a stupid generational argument that is being flung around by angry Gen X and Boomers. Sporting history is littered with playing groups who were responsible for their coach being sacked.

I think Ian Chappell’s comments on the issue are the most measured and aren’t from an ex-teammate of Langer so aren’t heavily biased due to loyalty. Chappell was an intense leader himself so if he’s fine with what went down I think the regular punters out there need to get over it also.
 
Langer was gone 6 months , a late backflip at CA saved him .
What happened last week was predictable and not suprising given how CA operate.

Some people ( especially on the cricket board ) are over complicating it .
The guys a very good coach but a fire cracker, he fizzled out .

The bigger issue is who replaces him from here .

Tail wagging dog yes, was he poirly treated in exit yes , right move from what I hear absolutely

Well what a boring test summer we have had .
Saving grace is the away Indian tour with the UK Ashes ( my favourite series ) on the horizen .
IMO priority should be securing that urn again .

Happy to chat cricket with anyone interested , find the cricket board here pretty tough work 😁

For the few overs it would have taken I would have let him get there .
Plus it would have been annoying for the Saffers , head out field for 10 mins or so .

Keen to see what bowling lineup we take over now. Agar didn't look threatening and agree with you he's probably ruled himself out because of it.

Still trying to get my Head around how Warner was given man/player of the series...

Murphy is potentially the real deal , gives them a good tweak and bowls with flight, drift and drop .
Would be staggered if he didnt play a test over there .

Agar is too limited, Swepson is ok but the Indians play legspin with a licorice stick .
He is there if variety is wanted/needed
