Why do you instantly assume that the guy with the name that looks like a butt is a Port supporter?

I don't believe in lucky premierships. Okay, it's safe to say that the Crows finished 4th and 5th in the two minor rounds, but minor rounds are only qualifying rounds, it's how you perform when the heat is on that counts.
It's also safe to say that North Melbourne's kicking for goal cost them dearly in 1998, but when the game was there to be won it was the Crows who stood up.
No premiership is a lucky win, sometimes we forget that.
Some believe in excuses and luck, I believe in performances and grasping opportunities when they present themselves.

97'... if we hadn't had the injuries etc... blah blah blah that we had.. we would've flogged you guys...

yeah okay... now i'm only dreaming.. whats gone is gone.. you got what you played for..

Doesn't mean i like the crows either...

Both premierships were flukey.
Andrew McLeod fluked two lucky games.
Shaun Rehn fluked two great games in the ruck.
Darren Jarman fluked 11 goals.

Well they must be flukes 'cos the above three didn't play any other good games in their careers only those two!    ::p

8 goals. 22 points.

Just a guess.

Sort of agree here ... North worked hard to get the Crows their second flag, whereas the Saints did nothing in 97 towards the cause, and McLeod & Jarman had to do the deed.

Does anyone suppose that (_!_) batsignal here posted this because it is worried that the Crows are in the hunt for another flag next year, and is just getting the excuses in early?

There haven't been many teams which have not deserved their premierships. The minor round is just a way of getting a chance to play for the premiership when the important matches are played. Look how many top tennis players don't win minor tournaments but step up for the Grand Slams

But back to the Crows, how many teams do you honestly think can play interstate for 5 weeks and still win the Grand Final as did the Crows in 1998. Anyone who thinks this was flukey sees an imbecile when they look in the mirror in the morning.

Ok you had Peter Everitt and don't forget that magical Lazar Vidivic. Peter Everitt - may seem like a big loss but hell, we had Trent Ormond Allen out and he flogged old Spider in the ruck in '99 at Waverly.
Then there's Lazer. I know it's a very big call but I rate Riccuito, Modra and Vardy just that bit higher than him.
Sorry, I think we won on the injury front.

A flag is a flag is a flag is a flag. Who cares whether it was a 'fluke' or not. The team that comes to play on Grand Final day is trully the best team. The Crows did that and therefore deserve the success they got.

On the topic of the Crows, I think they are a huge chance of a flag next year. Statistically, they played like a premiership side this year. They had a bad run with injuries and some horror road trips in the final 4-5 weeks that stopped them from making the GF in my opinion. Next year with Carey in the side anything is possible.

I'm sorry you don't make sense... 99' is 2 years later... 97' 98' were Spider's All Aus Years... of course he played better in those years!!... C'mon... When you've got your 2 best ruckmen out of the Grand Final, you haven't got much to work with..

Which was Adelaide's flukiest premiership?

I would rather have a guess at your true identity,

My three top choices would be,

1 = Zombie, who has shown a tendency lately in his posts of being concerned with the Crows list & their prospect of future flags, [just around the corner]

2 = Adelaide Hawk, still trying to get over round 1 1997.

3 = Portaholic, has been very quiet lately so maybe this is just a taste of things to come,

If i have it wrong please except my sincere apoligies, [ i think not];)

OK fair enough but we had our two all-australians out for the year in Riccuito and Modra and also a good goalsneak in Vardy. You had ruckmen out, we had our best midfielder at the time out and the best FF in the league out. You have to make do with what you've got and we did it better than St. Kilda.
