I was at the Game Yesterday and the crowd was appualing. At 10:30am when the ticket gates opened there wasnt a soul to be seen, usually when the ticket window opens its fairly busy even when a Victorian team vs a Interstate team.

If there was another game in Melbourne yesterday you wouldnt of got all the naturals that turned up (AFL Area almost sold out) and while working i asked the customer what team they supported because they warnt wearing North or Ports Colours and they said neither.

Worrying sign for North Melbourne. They cant blame the weather because it stop raining after 11:30am and it was INDOORS.

The expected crowd was only 16,000 estimated by the AFL anyways so they were under the expected crowd, what a poor effort. Level 3 was closed because with the less staff working at Etihad the more money North Melbourne recieve so they closed level 3. Level 2 was even selling at Level 3 when the GA area in Level 1 sold out.

As i said in the opening paragraph if there was another game in Melbourne, this game wouldve lucky to have 8,000 to 10,000.

Haha, the logic that keeps getting trotted out in these threads is remarkable.

And dude, the fact you are both an Etihad Stadium employee and Hawthorn supporter qualifies you for Double Douchebag status - fair effort that. :thumbsu:

Really? Are you the official Venue Idiot?

"official crowd" Is just spin - how many real people were there .Its like the old days at the MCG when everyone in the ground was counted as the "attendence" I suspect North and the AFL are doing the same again.

In any case a disgracefull crowd on a Sunday with no other games on in Melbourne. So how far the North brand has slipped? Looks like the sympathy vote of a couple of years back has worn off.I wonder how much money was lost with a crowd like that by the club and stadium management?

I reckon North will have their hand out to the AFL again soon. North = the new Fitzroy.

The problem Nth has is other than there supporters no one really cares, as in hates them or for that matter loves them. They just don't count and this will never change, it will not be long before they are gone and another great AFL/VFL team will be nothing more than history and nobody will care other than the die hard supporters.

Even thou they have a small supporter base it is still sad when a club is slowly dieing because the small group that support the club love it as much as any other supporter and should not have to go thru the heart break of it.

wouldnt think it going by the amount of north trolls on here

I was confused about why on earth you'd have been there until I read to the end. Most of the first half I spent thinking a) no wonder no-one wants to watch Port with Laidley's dead, cold hand on them, b) no wonder people other than diehard fans dropped off wanting to see us if we were this hard to watch, and c) no matter how few people were there yesterday, it would be amazing if any of them came back for more next time these two sides meet. Thank heavens Port loosened up in the second half and the game could be played properly by both sides.

Our schedule this season is unimaginably bad. If there's any justice, given what Scott and the kids have shown this year, we'll get a better run next season.

The problem with bigfooty is that many of the posters are kids who know nothing about footy or ever want to talk about it. Even the mods here are a joke. Go and post on the Brisbane site and you get red carded for posting anything. Give a no hoper some power and he thinks he's god.

We're guaranteed $100K even if 3 people show up.

Well, Party hard. Lets not rock up because we get guaranteed 100k.

Everyone gets that Minimum 100k. Its about getting more through the gate to make more $$$$$

Last week, the Kangaroos Coach,Captain,CEO etc came out begging the crowd to turn up, they gave away a car, donated money to a cause, stole back page all week, footy show was swamped with it (it was like they were playing a final) and still didn't get near filling the dome.

Any other Vic side after all of that would have drawn 50k+.

This week they sat 6-6 going in, playing a team they were expected to win, it was under a roof, they came off a win on a friday night with a guy kicking 7............and they draw 15k (even Visy Park would look empty with that turnout) If this mob EVER sat at the bottom for more the ONE season, they would shut shop.

Nth supporters are pathetic.

*How many Nth supporters double scanned this week?

15,109 for the only game in Melbourne today...

The AFL would be ultra disappointed with these figures, especially with the recent revelations of North supporters who have kindly purchased two memberships to keep their club above water and swiping through both cards to boost diabolical attendances. We will probably never know the real crowd.

I love the innovation of closing the 3rd level of Etihad though to ensure it does look like there is a semi-decent crowd for the TV cameras though. What a novel idea. I've thankfully never had to experience this with my own club but well done to North and the staff at Etihad for trying. A small tip for the broadcasters though to avoid all wide shots of the ground in this instance, if possible. It kind of gives the fraud away.

On par with the AAMI Stadium 'banner' look when Port play home games.

I was the only person there :thumbsu:

How come you didn't take a picture of Level 3 at 9am to give a true indication of the crowd?

1:10pm on a sunday. Not to mention shocking weather.

After having a big night was pretty reluctant to go to a 1:10 pm game just to early. Even when i was walking to the train station almost turned back cause it was pissing down rain. Then train was delayed 20 minutes almost turned around then to.

There comes a point in a football club's history when supporters have far too many reasons to justify not attending.

To see what happens at that point, it's instructive to read the histories of South Melbourne and Fitzroy.

Barely rained in melbourne yesterday after midday. Had a total of 2.2mm yesterday most of which came between 10 and 11, well before most people have to leave for the game.

Venue also has a ROOF and the minimum yesterday was 12.3degrees which is actually pretty good.

Sounds like the problem is that there are just too many other things North 'supporters' would rather do than turn up and watch their team play.

- Big night beforehand
- shocking weather (the game is played in the winter. yep, winter)
- game starting 60 minutes earlier than you'd like
- Train delayed (welcome to Melbourne)

Why do you people care so much about crowds?

You need to get a hobby seriously this is the most inane discussion I have witnessed!

Sure administrators or the the AFL they are paid to care but why a Bulldogs supporter would spend their afternoon discussing another teams crowds, I guess I underestimate how bored someone could be!

Get real - bums on seats is all that matters. You support a slowly dying club its only a matter of time that North end up in Tassie or Ballarat.

The daming thing is even though you are winning you still cant pull a decent crowd.

Definitly Doctor Jolly the Troll!!

Will they let you back on the Sydney board with your alias?
