I too had a spare seat next to me.
I was a bit dubious about the figure actually.
As for the day I didn't really notice that it was bigger or louder or anything like that.
It's just good that we have big numbers paid uo now.

Really? Maybe next time take your ear plugs out. Biggest richmond crowd I've ever been to and that's stretching 30 odd years. I reckon there were at least 60-65k tiger fans. Atmosphere was brilliant, just disappointing we couldn't get the job done.

Forget one poster to ruin a thread. Lets get back on track.

The crowd was my favourite aspect for the day. 60k Richmond supporters, at least. Loved having the supporters in bays too. Ads to the experience.

The AFL does the countdown really well. That one minute to go with the daunting music and frames of players is very good. The anticipation from the crowd adds to the experience.

The roar when the Tigers came out was simply incredible. I hate to say this for anyone who wasn't there, but I took a video of them coming out and have watched the replay on channel 7 and it doesn't match the experience live whatsoever.

Richmond coming out, the national anthem and that one minute prior to bounce was amazing.

And the goals were great too. Especially Ivan's.

Just amazing. Loved it.

That AFL bit is stolen from the NFL. Went to Jets v Giants a couple of weeks back and it was the exact same song. Not saying they shouldn't steal good ideas but definitely got that one from the yanks.

I think so. As much as we may dislike one another, you wouldn't want it any other way.

Bring on round 1 next year..........................and bring the crowd also.

Its done one thing, the ridiculous threads asking for round 1 to go to other teams should stop well and truly now.

If that crowd doesn't underline the depths of the clb rivalry, nothing will

F*** we outnumbered them! Walking to the ground from Richmond you could barely notice any blues fans

I loved when the crowd yelled out 'yellow and black' 65-70,000 tigers going crazy. Carltons turn out was pathetic for a final. They are lucky they had a come back win to make it sound like they had more there on tv. They would have had 25,000 there at the most. Wish it was us who made the come back. The crowd would have been so loud. Carlton fans are spoilt. They really need to be brought down and I will celebrate when we are dominating them.

I endorse the sentiment in this thread. Think how nervous we were in the crowd and then think how you'd feel as a player. Hopefully the tigers can get over their stage fright and thrive in the limelight and pressure. We will be feared. I have been to the past 7 grand finals and the atmosphere yesterday topped them all bar the final qtr in the pies/aints draw and 1st qtr the following week. Minimal neutrals, and credit to Carlton's measly crowd, they were loud for their size. It really would've been a sight to behold had we won.

Can only dream about next year.

Anyone think we can fill the MCG against an interstate side?

Probably not quite, I wouldn't think. Maybe against Sydney or Adelaide who have large Melbourne bases, but I'd still say no.

Would go close. There was probably 65k yesterday with it being a sellout. Many people missed out. Sydney we'd go close. They'd get 15-20k I reckon

Crowd was like a grand final. Im gutted tonight tho after another fade out to this scum team. My pain is eased somewhat after laying $100 on them to win at $5 at half time. :thumbsu:

At least you got something from that horrible ****ing day. I was borderline pessimistic even when we were 5 goals up...I guess it's a Tiger thing

I'm honestly starting to tear up a but seeing these shots (not a good look when at work). ....and i thought i was over it.

Total respect to all tigers on the day. The players, coaches, supporters their in spirit, and huge extra special mention to any tiger there on the day. Was the supreme turnout from the tiger army. Glad i was one. Proud of the boys!

Great to see so many young fans amongst it yesterday. Despite all the years of heartache the Tiger parents have done a great job in continuing the tiger cubs' faith in the club. My ex barracks for Geelong, it was a hard slog but my two eldest boys were cheering hard yesterday with me. My youngest is not really into footy but when I am watching at home I ask, what do you say and he says, "Go Tigers!"

The one thing I envy most as a doggies supporter is the mammoth crowds you lads can draw. Going to the dogs finals a few years back was awesome enough and I love the segregating of supporters (looks awesome) but I could only dream of the level of support the tigers have when going well.

Bad luck yesterday, but you guys are going to just get better and better over the next couple of years. And I look forward to more huge yellow and black crowds come September.

Just wondering what everyone thought about the members bays? Being with only Richmond supporters would be pretty amazing. I would love them to do something like that in games against Carlton, Essendon and Collingwood all the time. Thoughts?
