We went to La Trattoria last week-it's in King William Street. Great place if you like real Italian cooking at a good price. The wine list wasn't too bad either!
You have good taste young lady. :thumbsu:

When we get to Adelaide we usually go and have a feed there.

Many years back I worked shift and got many good and very cheap feeds there late at night. :thumbsu:

That brings back memories. Used to eat there a lot 30 years ago and the Calzone Rustico was my favourite. Haven't been able to find one in Adelaide that goes close.

we make the odd calzone at home, whilst we can make the dough and fillings ok, we cannot for the life of us make that topping they pour over it, it's either too lumpy or too fine. ahhh i want one now

Hehe. :p :D
Heard all about it but never went. Is it still there?
Was last time I went to La Tratt a few months back. One of my sisters-in-law had an embarrassing moment when she went to La Tratt for a work show and went in the wrong door. :D

Late at night make sure you go in the correct doorway ;)

thats not the place where a gold coin gets you about 30 seconds of something :D, i know nothing about that place ;).

Amalfi Pizzeria.

29 Frome St.

Youll never go anywhere else again. They specialise in pizza and their pasta is pretty much just as good as well. They always have interesting specials on the board and their wine list is great, some real good value gems. One of my favourites, love going there.

Agreed. :thumbsu:

Hey I won "volunteer of the year" at my sons' school. :D

Yeah there were one of "those" doors on either side of La Trat.

i wanted to go in for a look but hubby wouldn't let me. :D

we used to call it the $2 shop, most unsanitary place i've been too (for certain reasons) other than the venice railway toilets (but thats another story)

Yeah I got told that you should never put your face too close to the glass (or lean on it for that matter) in those places. Something about "sticky residue".

And I wish I, wish I knew the right words
To blow up the pokies and drag them away
'Cause they're taking the food off your table
So they can say that the trains run on time

The Whitlams......

For those of you who are local, a new restaurant/cafe has just opened up in the Port, between the (now closed) Port Admiral pub and the First Commercial pub on Commercial Road towards the Lighthouse.

It's a Greek place called Argos and me and the lad called in their Sunday night when they opened up.

Plainish interior and it was full with family and friends on the night (Ithink we might have been their first 'real' customers). Was good honest food, but hard to tell until after a few visits, which we'll definitely be doing. I ordered the baby goat main and the boy ordered a Yiros platter main. Both were great, and the lad ended up eating half my goat dish it was so good.

Nothing fancy by any means but very reasonable and a good atmosphere. Give it a go, as anything new and local needs a bit of help to get established.

Has anyone tried the Greedy Goose? It is supposed to be fantastic.

I also had a steak at the Old Lion last week. Was please to see they were as brilliant as I remembered them.

Waitresses weren’t bad either ;)

I went to go there on Wednesday night. The place was absolutely packed! Was spilling out onto the sidewalk.

Will have to wait for another time.

I had heard the Pizzas there were supposedly the best in Adelaide. Was disappointing. Took about 40 minutes to get it as well.

There is nothing in Adelaide that I have found that compares to the Pizza places around Melbourne.

Unless there are some suggestions?
Pfffft La Tratt.

Best pizza in Adelaide has always been Marcellina's on Hindley St.

Well it was for about 20 years prior to 2002...and I assume it hasn't changed much since then.

And yes, it does compare to some of the best places in Melbourne, such as La Porcetta.
