Yeah Sheldon, then Austin, then Collier.

Still have some small hope that Collier may be a late bloomer.

Was never impressed with Sheldon and Austin at any stage, but was willing to give them time. I think time is up now.

Maybe a rookie spot for Austin.

Agree with you on these 3- Sheldon won't make it, Austin has most of the skills bar the most important one, decision making, while Collier requires a substantial remake between the ears. Needs self-belief or this season to come will be it.

If Collier and Austin are delisted, Polkinghorne will be the only player from the 2007 draft left on our list. Thank god for the 2008 draft.
Looking at that draft, it is a bit of a mixed bag. Taking 5 picks either side of Collier (pick 25) you have a couple of quality picks in Pears and Otten, a few who have shown some promising signs (Maric, Whitecross, Selwood), a couple who haven't shown a lot (Motlop, Meredith, Hinkley) and a couple of delistees (Notte, Jacky). End of 2011 and you could have most of that group delisted.

Still think Austin has more to give than Sheldon. Sheldon has nothing to show for himself in 4 years at the lions - although i do realise he was picked up as a 17 year old and has had some injury issues.

I agree..and if we get heppell in the draft then Sheldon will never get a game as a backliner...delist him and see what austin can give us

Here is my go at predicting what will happen:
(assuming Johnstone is out)
- I think Beams should clearly be promoted to the Senior list
- from my understanding we have four picks in the top 31 of the draft, which we will definitely use. And we have another 2 (?) compensation picks after the first round (?), which I assume we will use one of, so that would be 5 in total.
- that leaves 2 players needing to be delisted - Austin, Sheldon, and Collier are the most likely.

Here is my go:

We have picks 5, 25, 27, 31, 65, 82, 99 + 2 compensation picks
We currently have 3 spots available (OUT: Selwood, Brennan, Sherman, Rischitelli, IN: Bewick)

So I predict...

- Beams to stay on the rookie list and be elevated next year (Bartlett will be on the LTI list)
- as we have a glut of earlyish picks this year, and because GC has blown out the length of the first round, both compo picks to be put in the bank
- we use five picks in the draft (5, 25, 27, 31 and 65)
- Sheldon and Johnstone to be delisted

*it is also possible to cut the senior list back to 38 players (was 40 this season) in which case another 2 players could be delisted

so your not happy with fev then?

45? goals from 10 or so fully fit games is avery good effort and should be back to 100% fitness next season but i do agree that brisbane sould have kept henderson but who's to say he wont be a gun or a dud or injurys could ruin his career we dont know

Did I say that?

With the salary we were offering Fev, no other club would have taken him before us in the PSD.

We overpaid. Wouldn't have happened under Robb Kerr.

Insanity. Claye Beams was worth drafting on to the main list last year. He has shown immense potential in the ressies this year. He will be a walk up start for the A grade this year, if we are true about looking to the future.

If we leave him on the rookie list this year, he will walk after the season - and I don't blame him. Claye Beams is a better bet than anyone after pick 30. And probably better than any after pick 20, IMO.

Not to elevate him this year is insanity, again IMO.

The end result is the same for Beams either way. It doesn't create a reason for him to walk.

The Lions did a similar thing a few years ago. Everyone on BigFooty was outraged/bewildered that Begley didn't get upgraded to the senior list. But the next year Voss was put on the long term injury list, Begley was upgraded to the senior list and he played in round 1. It's just a way for the club to manipulate things so that you get an extra pick in the National Draft instead of the Rookie Draft.

Consider the effect on him. Put him on the list & he belongs. IMO he is in our best 30 & deserves to be treated as such. Don't be too cute. If we rate him, we rate him. No clever games.

One of my old man's best sayings is 'too clever by half'.

I'm probably only in delisting Austin over Sheldon. In my opinion Sheldon's shown more (albeit not much) than Austin to date.

Na your not alone, I think Rookkie Austin and give Sheldon 1 more year in the midefield, let him go after the ball and see what hes got.

I thought of that Beams scenario, which is a definite possibility as it really gives us an extra player on our senior list.

I am not sure about saving both compo picks given the same thing is going to happen in next year's draft with GWS.

I hope you are right. We desperately need new players wearing numbers 3 and 4.

WTF. Not Proud. Surely.

Put him on the rookie list at least!

After the way he has turned himself around, surely he was worth another year on a shit-all contract.

I try to be fairly rational and defer list management to the experts, but if we've delisted Proud ahead of Sheldon or Austin, I am going to be really, really confused.
