I purchased a 'The Cure' DVD called triology. ($22ish at JB Hifi)

They played 3 shows back to back in berlin each show is one of 3 CDs they made, Pornography, (i'm 99% sure) Disintergration (80% sure) and something else.

Now, I haven't heard much from The Cure, but as I was looking through it piqued my fancy. From what I understood they'd have been an influence on bands similar to Muse. They definently have the ambience thing going on.

Robert Smith, I think, gives a great performance, perhaps not as powerful as his attack on mega-striessand. All though, each time I've watched these DVDs I've been tired as ******** and asleep quite quickly.

Bit of an incoherant ramble to this point.

So I'll wrap things up.

Fans of The Cure, I'm VERY intriqued by this band, I think I could REALLY get to like them, but to this point, I've heard VERY VERY little. I'd like to explore a few CDs of theres as I will never watch the DVD I purchased enough to actually learn the songs.

What are your recomendations?

Cheers.

The Cure have been my favourite band all my life, the albums you must get are Disintegration (my all time favourite album), Wish, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me and Faith. But it depends as I prefer their "depressing" songs/albums to their happier songs.
But I am pretty much an expert so yeah, feel free ask me anything :)

I've had the best of as well as The Cure Show on cd for a few years now, and i love them both! However i've never even thought to get into a particular album... might be a good idea to try

im not a huge fan but they are a good band, just like heaven was the introduction for me to them, boys dont cry, gone, close to me are all good

My way of describing them is .."The best band at re-inventing themselves without ever really re-inventing themselves":o :thumbsu:

Hope that makes sense .

Any band that has had the longevity that they have had deserves respect .

I am a fan of more of the older gear but was very pleasently surprised by thier latest "guitar-laden" offering .. Great effort from Bobby Smith on that one .

"Primary" is one of the all time classics ... up there with "Love will tear us apart" ... and "A Forest" is not far behind , killer baselines

Personally I like the song "Charlotte sometimes".... the video clip is good too.
Agreed, that along with A Forest has been my favourite song for ever.
The video clip used to scare me though :o

love the cure.

some of their early albums are as good as anything recorded during the period, and have managed to still release great albums right thruout their career.
