So right now our fringe is, in my opinion lacking and I am hopeful that some of our development/outer fringe types show some big efforts to replace the current "next in line"

In our best 16 you have 5 players who i believe are only making up the numbers and are there to add experience meaning going forward we need to add 5 from the fringe. Out of your list of 16 fringe players i have 8 players that wont be there within 2 years and the same goes for the outer fringe list too.

We have a lot of wotrk to do and it will take 3-4 years of good drafting to get there not just one.

List turnover only gets bigger from here. Having journeyman as depth is ok, but the top tier need to improve still

I'm hoping that the MC keep bringing in youngsters like they have for the first 2 weeks. That'll build more depth and help us to work out our holes. After watching v Sydney, we need more mids inside and out.

There are two things going on at Carlton

1. Reset - meaning a different way of going about being a football Club on field and off field;and
2. Rebuild - which means reinvigorating the list as a whole and improving on field performance

both efforts will take time and the cumulative impact of doing it better than not - won't be seen as quickly as some would like - but there is a point at which positive momentum takes over if things are done right and BAM.

I think both Bolton and SOS are happy with last year's draft picks - so apart from massive positive in Weitering laying form day 1 - we know that these blokes will take development time in order to build tank and grow as they are still teenagers ...

Then look at Whiley/Jacksh if these blokes actually kick on it is a bonus - Boekhurst has kinda established himself as a starting player now in a team coached by Bolton.

So imho I think Carlton has much greater depth today than we have had in many years - and more will come because frankly the whole football department is just being run better.

Where we dont have depth is in the current starting 22 but looking below - there the core elements of a growing momentum.

Sydney have the deepest clearance unit in the league, and frankly we're not that far behind.

Gee it would help if DVR comes on...pre-season reports have him a mile off the pace (quite literally in the 3km time trial), but you look at a few of his disposals for the NBs and we just don't have anyone near that quality by foot running around in the 1s...maybe Weitering.

What do we think, is he more or less likely at this stage?
