We’ve come a little way, but how did the little man manage to get an extension. Who that’s left on our coaching panel, apart from CrowCro, think this little 200+ game potato is worthy of a contract for 2020. Seriously, how does a club that’s in turmoil, coach gone, in a serious external review somehow decide to extend an Uber potato? Someone needs to be held accountable for this.

Means the club can say we only changed our list by 14 players rather than 15 and kept valuable games of experience to help the kids.

To think the club has fundamentally changed overnight because a review came through and hit some of the easy targets is utterly naive.

He will play 20 of 23 games next year or there abouts as well.

Don't be surprised when he gets extended to 2021 as well and then we'll have to make sure he hits his 250 game milestone as it'll be good PR.

List decisions like Mackay should have been put on hold until we got a new head coach. But they deliberately fast tracked Mackay because they know no new coach will want his dead weight. this way they've got a year to break the new coach into the system before Mackay gets reviewed again.

He's barely a role player, though I do got to congratulate him for the first time in 5-6 years that he actually ended up in the top 20 for votes per game in our BnF.

Mind you, I've mellowed on this signing. If you told me I'd have to cop one more year of Mackay to get rid of Burton/Camporeale, I'd have sucked it up and lived with it too.

yeah but here is the thing. If he plays 20+ games next year it would be because the new coach rated him, just like the last coach and the coach before him and the coach before that. So... I am not sure what that all means. Maybe the new coach will want more than a committed player who prepares well. Maybe he will become a star in the sanfl. But for whatever reason, the coaches love him. It could be a Jedi mind trick. These are not the droids you’re looking for. You will let me play.

Fair enough. Also as I understand it the key requirement for b & f votes is 'the player playing his role' !

And this is the first time in a long time you could even argue he managed that with some level of regularity.

It took a lot of people imploding to get there, and a career season to get to that 12th place in votes per game. Says a lot about what we've decided to stick with, instead of treating him like a role player and upgrading when possible.
