Do you guys understand what this side would look like without David Mackay?

It is easier to imagine the end of the Adelaide Football Club than it is to imagine one without David Mackay on the list.

I dont think it has any reflection on the review or anything else though. I mean hes probably the most professional bloke in the club, he could provide a lot to the young squad we are going to have. He's likely to be one of very few over 30s in the squad.

Like you though, if we get the off-field changes we think we are going to get, and he STILL plays......

It's mind boggling though because several of the young Crows players have come out and said Richard Douglas has been a fantastic role model off the field.

Then we delist Douglas but retain Mackay for his "professionalism"

I disagree. He adds nearly nothing, as he is living proof that all of the professionalism and hard work in the work doesn't mean you'll end up a competent footballer.

He also acts as the sign that the club doesn't care about success, or even worse, has no idea how to obtain it.

This was a failure that was better burying then clinging to the hope one day he'll live up to that promise a decade ago.

Managed to bury this by both announcing it on Grand Final Eve and bundling him up with an unknown rookie so the announcement can be about two Crows re-signing rather than directly refer to Mackay.

Do all clubs have players that have got 100-200+ games despite being sub-standard? If you go far back in the history books, maybe you'll find examples for but they always coincide with a club being middle of the road to shit at that time.

All clubs have the type each year, but they don't have long careers. They fill a niche for a year or three, then are replaced by someone that can live up to a higher talent. We're going for year twelve with our spud.
