The Dead Weather are a bit of side-project band with Jack White (White Stripes), Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Dean Farita (Queens of the Stone Age) and Jack Lawrence (Raconteaurs). I bought their album, Horehound, on the weekend and thought it was very good. Just wondering what other people think. I believe they are touring in March.

i think they're pretty excellent actually. Seemed to have flown under the radar a little bit. Though with that said, their first show sold out quickly. still tix available for the second show on the 20th March. even for the songs he doesn't sing (which is most of them), you can really hear Jack White's influence - so assume he wrote a lot on the album. So i def recommend.

Took a long time to get a response :) I definitely think they have flown under the radar. I mentioned them a few times in conversations but nobody seems to know them. Check them out.

i like the kills and most of jack whites projects so i am a fan, mosshart vocals sound pretty good on this but wouldnt have been a bad idea to have white singing in a couple.

They made a pretty big fuss over them on Channel V when the album came out last year, but they do that with anything Jack White-related (he's the supreme beacon of indie cred to them I think).

I've listened to Horehound a few times, and IMO this group is great when they rock hard (a few more songs like "Treat Me Like Your Mother" wouldn't have gone astray), but are a little bit dull at times on some of the slower numbers.

new albums owns. much more interesting than horehound.
Yeah, the new album (Sea of Cowards) is pretty good. Not sure if it's better than Horehound though.

I saw them at the Enmore Theatre when they toured a month or two ago. Awesome show! To quote the Vines review of the gig, Jack White is one charismatic mother****er. The duets he did with Mosshart were amazing, particularly "Will There Be Enough Water" where Jack Lawrence put down his bass to play drums, Dean Fertita put down his guitar to play keyboards and cover bass and White picked up his guitar.
