Adding to this, i believe that as the corridor will no longer be used in general play, we may as well make this a raised section of the ground for spectators or alternatively, a cover band belting out classics that mimic the ongoings of the game.

Songs like

"Hit me with your best shot"

"For Whom the Bell Tolls"

"Don't stop Believin"

Or the special one for Richmond

"The young and the hopeless"

Hell each player can have a theme song or 2.

Every ground is different. It's part of the charm of our game. A game at subiaco will never play out like a game at the scg. It all adds to the home ground advantage. To change this would be a travesty. I feel dirty for having even replied to this thread, surely the op is taking the piss.

I've given the matter some thought, and I reckon the ground should be a big bowl-shaped depression. Means the ball will tend to stay in play instead of going out of bounds. Better viewing for the spectators.

on a serious note i've actually always thought we should keep behinds, but only count goals and use the behinds as a tie break should goals be level. i.e. 11.4 beats 10.14 in my books.

Excellent idea DanRoo. I know that everyone will agree that the flat terrain of current footy ovals is getting incredibly boring, and some variety is badly needed.

If we just shape the ground of the new decagon stadium to resemble a 50 cent coin, this problem is solved. For starters, the 50 metre arc is already designated on one side - brilliant! Also, you'll note that the kangaroo and the emu provide the flattest surface, right along the wings. This is useful because when Collingwood plays, we'll chip the ball along the kangaroo, and then the opposition will emu-late our play along the other side.

All in all, good thinking.

edit: Just read the excellent icosikaihenagon suggestion. Will call the mint first thing Monday to see if they can cobble up a sample icosikaihenagonal 50 cent coin for us.

It has the added benefit of removing Siregnate style issues. The timekeeper just detonates the ball. The umpires will notice that (Darren Goldspink retired a few years ago, he was the only one who would miss something that obvious).
