Ok, we have a dozen players that seem on paper to be quite capable of running through our midfield in 2019. But in this game, you have to eliminate AT LEAST 4 and reduce it to 8 or less. If you only want to nominate 6 players for the midfield then only select 6 names. Only select the players that are in your midfield

'Midfielder' is a bit of a rubbery term these days. If you have Murph, Fisher, and Dow all playing 2/3 of their time in the midfield and 1/3 in the forward line, does that count as two midfielders or three? What if two of those players play 3/4 midfield and 1/4 forward, and the third plays 1/2 and 1/2? Etc.

I can imagine a side that includes all but one or two of those players, each of whom spend minutes in the midfield but some more than others. It's possibly not a first choice side as someone like Thomas would probably have to miss, but still.

LOB, SPS and Murphy to play wing/hf, Jack will struggle to get into the middle as a pure mid, more likely rotate in from the forward line.

The rest could easily spend plenty of time in there.

our Core mids:

Cripps
Kennedy
SPS
Setterfield
Dow
Walsh

LOB our wingman. Fish our half forward. Stocker i haven't seen enough of him to judge. Silvagni a utility, more likely at either end of the ground for mine. Great to see him being trained up for an allround game.

Ed is holding the fort. Admirable player but his skills have always been a problem. Murphy is Murphy and i hope to get some more good games out of him while he is there. More on the wing now for mine.

Surprised how many folks have Murph in the midfield. I think HFF is his go now.

I agree it think it will be really interesting where Murph ends up playing. On paper it seems we have a surplus of midfield 'Types" mostly young and mostly without afl tanks in the past . But when you consider Walsh - already an elite runner, and the likes of sps, dow lob and fisher, who are all coming through at the same time and the expectation and preseason evidence so far, is that they are all ready to make a significant jump up in midfield TOG. Depending on how this eventuates, we may or may not need Murphs run in the midfield. I think we will see pretty soon how the coaches view our fitness in our younger mids, by how we use Murph. And it is not like we dont have a use for Murph in the F50 especially with the going down of Broke -Arm Fassy boy.

Marc has a bit of an issue where any injury or niggle - even in the preseason - drags him down all year. There's only been 2 years where he's avoided this and he won the Nicholls medal both times.

If he stays fully fit this year he'll be a gun mid. If not he'll be a decent HFF.

He’s finished 2nd in the B+F 5 times. Had a pretty awesome career really.
