I've heard Chris Scott suggest on a couple of occasions that the players need to exploit the rules in different scenarios. It's the smart thing to do.

It's a complicated game, there's way too many agendas and interpretations. So you do need to create every advantage, big or small.

is it tall poppy syndrome coming into play here?

Nah, it's who can talk the most shit syndrome. Adelaide and Hawk supporters leading in that regard. Just happens to be the club he left and the club that thought they were getting him only to find out he didn't even give them a thought.

Do we have the most free kicks in the league? I assume we are smashing the 2nd highest team considering how we are the side that focusses on frees the most?

Even without Selwood surely as the team plays for so many frees we would still be well ahead on the free kick tally yes?

They do it because they are paid free kicks for it, that's pretty simple.
The AFL stated they want to clamp down it on - but that clearly isn't happening.

On Friday night - there were two free kicks in the 3rd paid at centre clearances to Selwood, immediately after he had a word with the umpires. They listened - both he initiated by ducking down low, jerking his neck out and lifting his arm so the tackle slid high. Is that smart football, or something we don't want in the game?

There were another 3 free kicks paid to Danger and selwood for diving after minimal contact, and you know it's bad when Ling (of all people) complains about it on the commentary.

Another shocker where Dangerfield slings crouch out of a pack (ball was not near either player) and they both fall over the boundary line. Crouch shoves him, Free kick to Dangerfield.

And then the eye gouge from Selwood on Knight, Knight remonstrates, Free kick Selwood.

What's that, 8 free kicks for exaggerating, diving, etc? And that just what I remember from one viewing. Simply put - it works, so they do it.

Are there any neutral supporters who think Geelong are not constantly ducking and diving for frees?
Who would you consider a neutral supporter? Either you barrack for Geelong, or someone else?

Considering Dangerfield still seldom plays for free kicks, is it tall poppy syndrome coming into play here?
You mean like this one where he's collapsing at the knees even before the contact?

Dangerfield's stock as a hard man definitely have taken a hit just a week after massive media coverage of how hard he is.

I doubt you're as stupid as you make out to be (not sure that's possible) but he was still in the act of standing up and then sees a shoulder charging towards his face.
........so he decides to flop.
This is a Lindsay Thomas Grade A Flop. It's embarrassing for a great player like Danger.

It's not a complicated game at all.
Each team is run by a bunch of high school drop outs who became league footballers. This is not the NFL where every single passage of play has 60-70 alternate variations based on the situation. This is Aussie Rules where you get the ball and kick it to the best available option. Stop making this sporting code out to be a head scratcher.
Guys like Selwood and Dangerfield, Scott Selwood, Allan Christensen (thank god he's gone), turn the sport into a f*****g laughing stock and you fools try everything you can to move the goalposts in favor of your beloved skipper.

Oh, I reckon I am.

If you don't think he's flopping on the ground there, you've not watched much football, eh?

Lol you're such a whinger. 1 supposed act of playing for a free and now he has the reputation? Man you've got some serious issues.
Almost all the free kicks pointed out above are actually frees, as soft as some were they were free kicks.
Eye gouging? There is no proof and crows fans will just go with it anyway. Piss off riley knight get off him.
It's about time though that you added this sort of aggression to your play but when you do it, especially when it's not natural you're going to give away free kicks.
Don't complain about it if you want to be seen as a tough side. Playing on the edge and this is what happens.
Still can't believe we only had 2 free kicks at quarter time, should've been more!

I've never mentioned that he now has a rep.
I've never accused Duckwood of eye gouging.
Don't confuse what others have posted if you're going to quote me and accuse me of stuff I haven't said.
