Start with public enemy number 1... Selwood

It has been disgraceful the AFL has let this go on for so long.

Personally I don't think they will stamp it out until Selwood retires as the AFL has been complicit.

You blokes have the Stokholm syndrome, plenty worse dives but the target was Rance who actually got pushed hard and got straight back up,plenty that were worse but Rance was the one put in the spotlight.
The only Stokholm Syndrome going on is from you oppos.

It's because rance Franklin with the same action 2 seconds before not because it's Richmond you peanut. Stop with the woe is me attitude.

I didn't think Rance was that bad, it's easy to be pushed off balance when you size up to someone as your centre of gravity is up and back on your heels.

There is falling over and then collapsing at the knees. If he was off balance he wouldn't have staggered back. Not dropped straight down. It was a dive.

His collision with I think Troy Selwood is one of the bravest collisions I've ever seen, Rance is a big strong tough bloke, no need for him to hit the deck

wow the Yellow and Black have come out in force to defend the poster child..... if the team had of shown as much fight in the 2nd half they would have beaten the Swans!!!

The thing about Rance is that here was an opportunity to stamp it out of the game. A big name player who embarrassingly flops to the ground was a litmus test for the AFL to say enough is enough. The AFL failed.

Now Rance wasn't the only guy to do it this week. And Bugg should have been penalised too, but no one would care cos he is shit. Just like when Leroy Jetta got done.

Here the AFL could have fined Rance and suddenly everyone is on notice. Sacrifice one to save many going forward - like tomahawk and jumper punches. But by not doing anything when they could have leaves everyone else to dive with impunity.

WTF. Selwood doesn't dive

Any attempt to extract frees that aren't there is staging and diving.

Selwood swans his head back in tackles as if there was head high contact. This is staging and diving. Wingard and gray are also guilty.

Well I wanna try start a trend on here though I doubt fans here will be able to admit it.

I'll throw my own in. Oliver was tagged all day and still got 28 touches and 8 clearances including 19 in the second half after Viney was hurt.

However he took a dive on half time. I've seen him get smashed up the guts by Cyril rioli and get straight up so he's a tough kid.

Under my system he would get his first warning this week.

Are you talking when he copped that elbow? Might not have been a big hit, but it did contact and he was pretty fired up about it. Still holding his jaw as he walked off. HE certainly did not dive. If it was that incident it seems to me you are just trying to even out the criticism that you've dished out. If it was another incident, then my apologies.

Yeh, but the dive, it was unprecedented

Yeah no matter what you think about the force it clearly hit his chin. Two umpires were looking directly at it and then made the report.

Mate I don't care what anyone says, if someone said I'll give you 10 grand to cop that elbow and stay on your feet you would stay on your feet. He went down thinking he could get a free kick imo. Hes bloody tough and that's not a good look.

If someone grabs your jumper when you don't have the ball, you arch your back to exaggerate it, and wave your hands about so the ump doesn't miss it.

If it's your free kick and you see the oppo player has thrown it weakly back to you, you don't rush forward to catch it, you stand still to exaggerate the weak throw, then point madly so the ump doesn't miss the 50.

So why, when you get genuine high contact, shouldn't you make sure the ump doesn't miss it? You flick your head back, hold the area you were hit etc.

This thread is making a special case out of high contacts when it shouldn't. Exaggeration is everywhere in the game, and exaggeration =\= simulation.

Because trying to earn a free is one thing, but making yourself look hurt when you aren't can get your opponent suspended which is bullshit. Being held stops you from being able to get the ball, getting a hand to the face doesn't stop you

Clarry took a really weak dive. I hope the boys make fun of him during the week and he doesn't do it again.
Totally disagree. Blokes copping one on the jaw with a forearm go down every week, as they always have. The difference being in the old days he would get it back even harder. Its not a boxing match. You cannot tell from the TV what force it was. Enough to get him very fired up in the melee. Save you indignation for the forearm. Don't pot the guys like Rance and Oliver who play good hard football, there are occasional divers out there but Oliver is not one.

Agree that contact was made and the west coast player will get a week for the deliberate nature. But just looked soft to me. I reckon Clayton knew it too. He looked to be a bit unhappy with himself in the rooms at half time.

Looked like he wanted to even up on the ground, so maybe not as soft as you think. Agree to disagree.

I thought the oliver one looked shit and he was being very melodramatic. Obviously unsure how hard the contact was etc. but the force did not look equal to the reaction.

Still love him though.
