Slight glancing blow, smothered it in mayo in the hope to get a free kick (and a shot on goal).

You could hear in the effects mic as they were walking off I think it was Bugg was arguing with the umpire that it should be a free kick.

Not how the game should be played.

I thought it wouldn't be a free kick anyway? At half time like that it can only be a report? Or had the siren not gone when the hit happened (I didn't watch the first half)

It was after the siren and the umpire was yelling "he's reported, he's reported".

Had it still been in play then it absolutely would have been a free kick, probably a 50 as well.

Yep, but the point is it was after the siren, so no need to milk a free is there? So there would be no point to taking a dive.

Looked like he wanted to even up on the ground, so maybe not as soft as you think. Agree to disagree.

Yeah look, I acknowledge I could be totally wrong. Good chance. Just looked bad to me.

Well I wanna try start a trend on here though I doubt fans here will be able to admit it.

I'll throw my own in. Oliver was tagged all day and still got 28 touches and 8 clearances including 19 in the second half after Viney was hurt.

However he took a dive on half time. I've seen him get smashed up the guts by Cyril rioli and get straight up so he's a tough kid.

Under my system he would get his first warning this week.

Because trying to earn a free is one thing, but making yourself look hurt when you aren't can get your opponent suspended which is bullshit. Being held stops you from being able to get the ball, getting a hand to the face doesn't stop you

Start a trend, under my system. Have a listen to yourself. You'd be nowhere to be seen had the D's not come back.

i think we really need to see another angle before we hang him out to dry. It could have easily got him flush on the chin, people go down exactly like that from elbows (slightly delayed reaction) in muay thai etc

If anyone deserves to be in here from that game it's Darling. Elected to flop to his back theatrically for a free rather than play the ball in a game where he'd done nothing. Dude should be a striker playing in Italy.

On a related point.

A fairly common response to the dual cases of deliberate OOB & deliberate behind by Jayden Short against Bulldogs and Essendon respectively was that he should have hidden his intentions better....AKA Faked it/acted.

It's a bit hypocritical to say at one point that players should disguise their intent better, and then complain on the other hand that players fake things.

if you look in the match highlights video when schofield hits him live, it looks like the elbow goes across the chin making it hard for the other angle to pick it up.

Full credit to Melbourne supporters here for not trying to say he didn't flop.

In other social media Melbourne supporters are trying to defend him lol

It's not a Melbourne thing, it's something that's keeping into the game more broadly.

FWIW I equally think throwing the elbow is a dog act. Had it fully connected it could have broken his jaw.

I think it's because we know how tough the kid is. Personally I've had a Crack at other teams players so it's only fair. If your talking about Facebook groups they are the biggest flog ***** of all social media lol
