Didn't get to see much of last nights game but I'm not at all surprised. Selwood has been doing it his whole career, why wouldn't he? It's not his fault it's the umpires and rules fault it's his job to try and win his club the game.

Umps and Hawks got sucked in by Selwood last week.

Until it's umpired differently he keeps on doing it.

Ha this still going. Crikey, it's like 'The Blob' isn't it-everything anti-Geelong just seeping out. Lols galore. Keep it up you crazy coots.

Danger and selwood both top 5 for contested possessions and sloane 8th. Funny that if you attack the footy and win it in a contest more than others do that you'll probably receive more free kicks than those who don't.
That's not why he gets them though.
He snipes, ump ignores it, then pays him when his opponent retaliates

What makes it worse is that there is no to little commentary around selwood and danger. Should show the amount of times they flop or just asking for a free.
Exactly. Look at all the footy media shows though. There seems to be a cats supporter or 2 on most of them.

I must say. Selwood is an incredibly tough and great player but I have absolutely no respect with how he plays the game.

People say he turns games and he does sometimes but look at how he does it. He ducks and dives and plays for frees more than ever when they are behind.

Probably what annoys me most though is when he doesn't get a free (rare) he sooks it up bigtime to the umpire. Like he is so hard done by.

Both captain and coach are absolutely made for each other.

Danger flopped once and won a free, not ideal but Betts did the same and no one says boo.

Think sloane won the most free kicks for the night didn't he? Fair enough too, he attacks the ball in the same way
Barely a flop. He went to ground to pick a ball up and was caught high. Those are incindental and all players get them.

Danger had started to fall before greenwood made contact. Selwood, mr tough as nails, went down like he was shot after a slight nudge.

Crows brought a physical game last night and when the cats wilted under the pressure they resorted to staging

It's a shame the umps were sucked in, but I imagine Razor and Ryan will be told to pull their heads in as senior umps

As for Sloane, he won most of his frees for being held at the contest.

Nothing to do with anti Geelong

Selwood has work out a way to get an easy ride good on him

The AFL need to adjust like they have with third man up or ruck rules,

He has basically got away with it good on him it's the AFLs problem not Selwood others should follow his lead if they don't

Geelong wanted to play us permanently on their home patch, the fear is real.

Watch a rorting you have never seen before by the fluros when we play em at Handbag House.

Ling will be manning the 30 second clock again.

Tiges>>>>>>>>put putz.

Don't even need their home turf anymore. Just bring their own umps with them

Vision of Chris Scott in the coaches box shows him regularly spitting the dummy at the umpires.

The umpires are also a theme in his press conferences.

It gets boring when they get so many cheap frees; the count against Hawthorn at quarter time was 3-13.

Agreed. Selwood turns games by ducking, using his head as a battering ram, looking for frees. I was shocked that when the ump blew the whistle, his first instinct is yep my free kick. Happened on a few occasions as well.

Interesting logic. Winning the ball in the contest will result in more free kicks.

Crows got more contested possessions last night, but less free kicks. This goes against the logic in your argument.

Lots of frees in the game - umpires trying to keep control. Don't think though that any side was disadvantaged/advanatged one way or the other.

The afl seriously need to look at this tactic used by Selwood he isn't alone but definetly the main culprit

It's becoming quite a blight on the game

There is no rule change required we have a ducking rule in place it's just an umpire interpretation more so than anything else

That's a one off game. Obviously the more times you are attacking a contested ball and getting there first, the more likely you are to get a free. It's common sense.

Even last night Sloane, danger and selwood won 17 free kicks between them and were 2nd, 3rd and 4th for contested possessions.

Everyone bangs on about geelong relying on two players, then complain that said two players who they rely on so much spend more time in the middle where teams are more likely to contest the ball and draw free kicks. Weird hey!

Crows are way off the mark? Yet they're a game and a half clear on top of the ladder?

If anything the G is more likely to suit the Crows against the Cats, being a much bigger oval.
Scores last night were almost identical to six weeks ago with the result reversed. Congratulations to the Crows for their 6th win against the Cats in the past 20 games in 13 years!. I think i will back us in at the MCG. The Crows are on top, but the top four doesn't mean as much anymore, looking at those last four games, they may not be on top for very long!
