I am really loving Lachie Neale's partners....... dress

I was having post cricket drinks and forgot all about the Doig until someone threw me their phone - not to give me an update but to say: "Holy shit, have you seen Lachie's missus!"

Sadly I can't even remember what she looked like (two very distinguishable features aside) because as soon as I remembered it was on I was more interested in finding out who was winning the count.

The sad part is I can't even remember what she looked like (two very distinguishable features aside) because as soon as I remembered it was on I was more interested in finding out who was winning the count.

Admirable (or sad) and yet also naive, you should have know who was winning

We need more people in here to get the outrage over Tendai's treatment flowing, what a ****ing disgrace

Hey, I tipped Fyfe by a landslide in the very first response till y'all tried to talk me out of it and got me second guessing myself.

Was going to mention that but I forgot. First thing I looked for in the bottom 5 was to see if he made it.

I tipped him to come top 5 last year and thought he'd easily come top 10 this year. I'm never wrong so the only explanation is that the match committee is. At least they didn't give the medal to the wrong guy like they did in 2011.

Harry Styles would be jealous Lachie. Also, forgive me for focussing on the detail, but I don't like the FDFC embroidery on your left breast pocket Lachie.

And Mr Hart, many thanks to you, you give us old blokes hope.....(apologies if that's your daughter Sir)

Another fun evening at the Doig - a few random impressions:

-Steve Rosich must have been imbibing early when he declared Basil "the best MC". Well, the so-called "best MC" then proceeded to make a number of stuff-ups that I cannot ever recall any of his predecessors doing - he called Con Regan Medal recipient Peter Phillips "Steve" more than once during his interview, and then called Shaunie Mac up to do the Best Clubman award too early (cue a very amusing look of horror on Basil's face as the girl from the events department tried to get him back on track!)
-Despite ever more glitzy graphics, there was a strange touch of sloppiness about some of the presentation. The picture of Ben Allan for his life membership award was prematurely flashed up during Peter Phillips interview, and then the tie for Player of the Finals was revealed behind Ross as he was walking on to announce the result!
-The price of tickets has doubled over my 9 years of attending these, and yet I don't really think the evening is any different than it was when I started going! And if Eskimo Joe are going to be the entertainment, why not get them to perform "Freo Freo"?!
-Indeed, much of the evening had a more ho-hum atmosphere than I recall before. I guess that's because the result was pretty much a foregone conclusion, but I think everyone at the club really doesn't like holding the Doig so late and just before the start of pre-season, especially because the award winners already know they've won because of the triggers in their contracts. Thankfully it would appear that it's going back to its traditional home of the week after the GF from next year.
-I get the distinct feeling that this year's straight sets exit hurt far more than making the GF last year. Everyone at the club seems desperate to make amends, and the overall theme from all speakers was "no compromising" - this includes, as Ross noted, additional Saturday morning training sessions during the pre-season.
-Great to see Alex Silvagni being rewarded with the Best Clubman award - though for someone with Italian heritage, his Movember moustache was practically non-existent! Barlow clearly has the best one out of the FFC participants.
-Tabs really needs some work with Luke Morfesse and the media department. He's not particularly inarticulate, but he seemed very uncomfortable in the limelight of the Beacon interview and gave very short, generic answers. The young Sandi was much the same, but is now quite a polished media performer, so there is hope!
-Highlights of the post-dinner dancing included the aforementioned Mayne/Walters dance off, Sandi busting a move as only he can, and the bizarre spectacle of Spurr picking up Barlow and spinning him around a la a music box dancer!

Finally, I don't know why, but it seemed that when we had the BigFooty table last year, the table was a little closer in than the usual back corner ones where they put the self-funded attendees. For no other reason, I hope enough of us put our hands up next year to bring our table back...after all, we'll probably have a flag to celebrate! :)

Thanks for this.
I'm very excited with the news about Saturday morning training in the preseason. Gives the non-retired a chance to watch them training.

Mzungu didn't even make the top 10?

What. The. ****.

Yep, right behind you on this matter of treason. I am planning an attack on the change rooms at 11am today!!

Mzungu was outstanding this year and was my smoky for a top 5 and Lachie, well where was the love from the match committee. Hopefully the girlfriend consoled him all night.

Yeah, I know we don't know the "role" the player has during the game but Mzu was so consistent where as Spurr and Pearce had good games and very poor games.

As to all the rest, well done and excellent recognition.

Danyle Pearce top 10 finish. That's why he is almost the first picked each week.
Danyle is every chance of exploding for Fremantle in 2015.

It seems Ross and I have a different opinion, to many posters on here, of Danyle's contribution to the side.
Round one 2015 will be Danyle's 50th game out of a possible 50.

Congratulations To Nat Fyfe; May you win a third straight in 2015.

After finishing ninth in the B & F I would of thought those posters on Bigfooty who have bagged D.Pearce as being hopeless (soap hands) wousld be admitting they were wrong. Im not referring to those people who come on here and are critical of individual games D.Pearce played, but the three or four posters who have reffered to him as being totally useless and abused him constantly throughout the year. At the very least the club (and the five coaches who vote for the B & F) clearly rates the season D.Pearce had more highly then the handful of haters on the Big Footy Freo Board. He finished ahead of Crowley, Dawson, Neale, Duff, Pav and Mzungu for crying out loud.

Ill also admit that the coaches rated Spurr's seaosn more highly than I did. With the benefit of hindsight Ill admit I have been overly critucal of him in some of the posts I made about Spurr in season 2014.

I have not been on here long enough to bag D Peirce & it's not my style, what I will say is that he works very hard which in the coaches eyes will get points. What annoys me with his game is his disposal especially into the 50, which really should be better.
Congratulations to Natt very well deserved. Bloody surprised Mzungo not in top 5, at least should been in 10.

his end of season was a shocker

What a cracking night it was!
Mayne and Walters did a dance off in the middle of the floor that was hilarious !

Footage!?!?

Have to admit it does seem rather at odds when you think of how many consecutive games he's played for us (might have missed one through injury somewhere?) and the praise he's received from Lyon in the past. I will admit it's a strong top 10 but Mzungu should have replaced MJ, MJ led after 7 rounds but thought he surely missed too many games to secure a top 10 placing.

As you say I'd also have had him in front of Spurr and Pearce, Mzungu is ridiculously consistent and has transformed himself from a solid WAFL player with noodle arms (sic) to a goal kicking Troy Cook take no prisoners type. Think his reliability deserves a bit of reward, anyone know more about the effect certain awards can have on a players contract in terms of bonuses and whatnot?

I know I'm not the only one to have had thoughts like "You know, Tendai is actually a bit of a gun these days" the last couple of years.

Tendai was robbed !!!!!.

Why the heck did they get Bazza to MC !!!!. There are chaps at the ABC who would do 10 times better and they could do with the pocket money.

Not a particularly good speaker, speaks in a monotone and has the charisma of a rusty nail. Must be because he's a big shot AFL commentator now lol.

And if that really is Rick Hart's daughter that's a pretty Fritzl-esque relationship there.
