Any chance the noise out of the Essendon camp that Jobe might walk away from the game is to stop the AFL ruling that he loses the Brownlow he doesn't deserve?
Whether he plays on or not shouldn't effect that decision. And I mean that in a 'the AFL won't have a choice in the matter if the CAS appeal fails' kind of way.

It's bad enough that he hasn't been made to hand it back already but let's be honest, He is going to walk regardless and if the AFL let him keep it, then it sends a very clear message to all those young Auskick footballers, that it's okay to cheat.

What a great advertisement for the game

More good news. It seems Chanel 7 have finally worked out the Scum are really on the nose given tonight's live telecast of the Port Adelaide v the filthy drug cheating Essenscum is on 7mate and the Australian Swimming Championships are on 7. A good start by the Seven network however they need to get rid of the pathetic squirming apologist Two Kick Timmy Watson.

Edit: Sadly not true. When I checked the 7 on line guide it indicated C73 but it must have been for Sydney not Melbourne. My stuff up.

There is no way that they win the appeal.

Therefore Jobe Watson is a classified as a cheat.

Therefore cheats can't have the Brownlow.

Therefore Jobe has to give it back.

Not sure it what scenario he gets to keep it. He can't....
Six months later the AFL makes an announcement . . .

"Jobe Watson is brave. So very very brave. He led his bombers to the top of the AFL in 2012 amidst a storm of governance issues for which no one is to blame except ASADA. And the sport of AFL rewards bravery and we can't think of any better way to recognize bravery than with a medal...you know, just like our armed soldiers get for fighting in wars. So with this in mind, the AFL Commission has decided to append the criteria and purpose of the Brownlow Medal retrospectively to 2012 to ensure Jobe's bravery is duly recognised. From 2012, and for any point after that where the AFL needs to avoid making a hard decision, the Brownlow Medal will be awarded to the 'Fairest and Best and/or Bravest' player in the AFL. The 3-2-1 voting system will be retained for the Fairest and Best criteria while the Bravest player will be decided by Gil and the president of the club with the doping regime...I mean, brave player."

I think you're on the money: stories like this don't just appear out of the blue, they are released carefully, sometimes by just a casual comment made by a player or official, followed by more comments and discussion from other club personnel immediately afterwards.
It's all carefully stage-managed.

My guess is that it is intended to get Jobe maximum sympathy, enabling him to take the next step, e.g get some cushy job at Chanel 7.

When you walk away from the game, you walk away from all of it for all intents and purposes.
They might as well ask Lance Armstrong to be the special comments guy for the cycling at the next olympics

Maybe Ch 7 could invent a mini show for both of them that showcases Ch 7's programming line up - call it "what's on with Watson and Watson".

And his old man has to be the one to take it from around his neck.

After all wasnt he a supporter of the whole hird/bomber thompson dreamteam?
Brownlow medal night, Tim Watson removing the medal from Jobe Watson's neck and then turning and putting it on Sam Mitchell who then steps up to make his acceptance speech but instead does a mic drop before doing his injectors sledge as he walks off stage...
