Some poetic moments from the game:

1. Phil Matera's goal in the last quarter. After copping the worst of the abuse from Pies fans on what was a pretty ordinary performance. Little Phil made the call "I may only be a small man guys but don't give up on me" in those last minutes and did the magical. The Matera boys are Vic opposition supporters favorite targets and it was great to see Phil win one back for the family for a change.

2. The tragic misses by Tarrant and Rocca because of the suade dancing shoes they chose to wore. Go with the footy boots next time.

3. The umpires coming to their senses and awarding some decent WCE frees after getting Collingwood back in the game with bad bounces in their goalsquare and turning a blind eye to some high tackling and holding the ball decisions that were baltantly obvious.

4. Andrew Williams being shut down very early in the game. This was always going to happen. That's why Woosha didn't play Adkins.

5. Chris Judds absolute beauty that shut every Collingwood supporter up with 2 minutes to go.

6. Michael Brauns sealer a minute later that sent them packing.

Walking into the ground with 2 Collingwood supporting mates, they politely pointed out that there was barely an Eagle to be seen. On the final siren the ground was already half empty and the blue and gold song was soaring.

Is it just me or does the song have a bass-ier punch to it nowadays? Sounds a lot better.

Best part of it all was seeing my Collingwood Brother in law so upset after the game. Though he was coming up with weak excuses such as they were the better side on the day and how the Umpires won it for us and so forth, it was a great win for me to gloat over.

Mind you, the loss affected him badly, I really thought he was going to burst into tears at one stage. I think most Collingwood fans seem to think because they were in the Granny last year, they automatically would win it this year. It's hard to try and explain to him that they made the GF with only 13 wins for the season and were only there because the better teams (ie: Port) failed in the finals.

I found it rather amusing how the Channel 10 cameras showed the empty rows of the Collingwood faithful leaving the ground (obviously to get first in line at the DOLE office).

Considering they whooped us by 80 odd points at Docklands in 2001 I think their supporters expected this to be a 'pencil in win'.

Great list Deepthroat, but how could you miss EMBLEY!

That goal he snapped whilst being slung was awesome.

That is why I asked...

I thought he was someone important, like Eddie's Brother or Nathan's Dad.

LOL

Speaking of Cheersquads, has anybody EVER joined in with our cheersquad as they walk around the boundary after the banner chanting Oi Oi Oi, Eagles Eagles Eagles?

Passionate about his footy team, and not afraid to show it. What's wrong with that? I'm not a fan of how he carries on in 'internet mode', but in terms of dedication to his team, where's the problem?

I don't think anyone questioned his right to be passionate about his team. Just pointing out the fact he is of lower than average intelligence and social standing (prerequisites for Collingwood cheersquad membership) ;)

Joffa pretends to be related to Eddie - although they are friends in real life from what I've read. Eddie got Joffa a gig on the Footy Show last year where he presented Scotty Cummings a full can of VB (as Joffa once threw a can of VB at Cummings when he was an Eagle) and he wanted to apologise.

Look out for the bloke in the gold suit at the next Collingwood game.
