out 26 Jan here(oz day)
seriously underrated band.

some of the best pop songs from the last 20 years

Souljacker is a really good album. Apart from that they are boring as f*ck. E's voice is just so drab and monotone.

each to their own. he is not a singers singer, thats for sure. but its got its own flavour which i like

i wouldnt call them boring though.far from a one trick poney

Regarding the new best of, I reckon it could probably do with another song off of Electro-Shock Blues, which IMO is the strongest Eels record. I know a lot of people rave about Blinking Lights....but it hasn't really excited me all that much on any of the attempts I've made to get into it. Maybe I need to give it more time. But anyway, P.S. You Rock My World should be on any Eels best of.

I hope the live content on the DVD is not from the period when they were touring sans bass player. Unless you're The Doors, that is the acme of foolishness.

Excellent, big fan of Daisies of the Galaxy and Beautiful Freak, while Souljacker Pt 1 is a fun tune too. Ohhhhhhh yeaaaaah!:)

Totally disagree with you about E's voice, but to each his own.
This is not "an each to their own" or "opinion" thing. He has a monotone singing voice. End of story.

You may like it - that is your opinion. Whether or not his voice is monotone is not opinion. It either is or isn't. His is.

Yes he'll often employ a vocal melody comprising of only the one note

What a bellend.

You are in denial. Just because you like his voice, doesn't mean it's not monotone and boring.

Repeat after me:

"E's voice is monotone and lacks any variety, but I like it".

Such a great band. Beautiful Freak is still one of my favourite albums of all time.

Spunky is so heartbreakingly beautiful. Love Flower as well.

Always liked his garagey stuff as well :thumbsu:

Do the people who like The Eels also like Biffy Clyro? I'll listen to them if I have insomnia. Has the same effect as Stillnox.
