Thou shalt respect their opponant, regardless of ladder position, at each and every contest of each and every game.

Seriously, any idiot who's caught even a glimpse of the doggies in the last few weeks knew the kind of footy they're playing is not indicative of their ladder position. And as much as Cuz & Co. can say all the right things in the lead up, I doubt there were many out there who actually believed it. We were full of ourselves again today, just seemingly expecting it to happen for us. We acted as the hunted, rather than an opponent in a very level game.

The ultimatum has to be, that we start to work as a team again, or we can forget about firstly a top 4 finish, and secondly a respectable showing in finals at all. We were disgraceful today, and will be beaten by 100+ again next week if we don't take serious stock of today's disaster.

Cuz. Welcome back. Awesome today early, and it was more the nitty gritty stuff that he was doing, rather than the beautiful dodge, weave & spin stuff.

Samps, welcome to the big league kiddo.

Now, Davey Wirrpunda, I love you, I truly do, and the excitement you build is like (almost) nothing on earth, BUT if you EVER leave the f*cking side of your opponent again when playing in the last line, I will personally hunt you down. Brilliant player, but shlt, he's obviously far too loose to play so deep (but we knew that from the KJ debacle). What really worried me though, was that he didn't seem able to change his style of play when needed. Did he just think 'nah, I'll keep playing my game, it'll be cool'? Or is he incapable of it? Either way, Nathan Brown killed us again, and it's primarily Wirra & Whoosha's fault. At least Banners finished on him.

Bullies, you played a great game today, and your supporters should be proud. It wasn't a particularly pretty game, but when it comes to the crunch, it's the 4 points that matter isn't it? Your kids are excellent, and unless you send some this way, I hope you're able to keep them all. The makings of a solid team. Congratulations to Brad Johnson, he's one of those players that no matter how much they destroy you, is just so hard not to like. Infectious smile. Anyway, he was clapped off by the Eagles people today, and for good reason.

Anyway, I've only just stopped shaking, so I'll give my real thoughts on today later....

Pretty much sums it up except for the Wirra business.

I was of the opinion the Banfield played on Brown for the majority of the game, before Wirra was switched onto him. Wirra lined up on MacMahon.

Brown kicked a couple of quick ones and then Banfield was placed back on him and he kicked some more.

Wirra is still easily our best small defender , dont know who would have been better for us back there. Banfield was exposed for pace again and looks like he is returning to his form of early last year where he got torn apart by small forwards.

Was great to see the Subi crowd clapping the Doggies off after the game - they deserved a lot more than our consolation cheers though...

Well of the 7 he kicked, 3 were in the portion of the last quarter Wirra was covering him. They were pretty imporant goals I thought. The contest was just below where I sit, and it got to the stage where we could see as soon as he left Browns side, the opportunity was created, and duly taken. To the point of being on opposing sides of the pack - and you just can't do that with Brown, ever.

The Bulldogs played extremely well today. I would say that 3 of their players are in the best 20 in the AFL - Brown, Johnson and Smith. And today their young players gave it everything.

You only have to be 5% off and any team can beat you. It's an even competition and last place doesn't mean you can't play - our two toughest games at Subi this year have been against Geelong (last at the time) and today.

I'm pleased to scrape a draw in the circumstances.

PS. The 11th Commandment of footy is in fact "One week at a time".

Its statements like these which make you realise that its just a game after all. Guys like Johnno are universally loved because of their attitude.

With all that has happened between our two clubs, its still nice to read this sort of stuff.

Good on yer, I say.:)

This was always the worry for the Eagles, playing the bottom team at home, supporters thinking they should win and win easilly... it didn't surprise me to see the Bulldogs have a real go, unlucky not to win in the end in Brad Johnson's 200th.

Brisbane next week, not a bad time to catch the Lions with Voss out for a month, however it is in Brisbane.... could this be the start of a slump for the young Eagles?? ;)

Gotta agree. Sometimes it feels as if we're playing with Jako at CHF, Milli at FB, a ruckman, and 15 midfielders.

Lets bring Collica back.

Wipe that smile off your dial and get that grin off your chin! We managed to beat Brisbane last year WITH Voss so we have to be optermistic here.

I thought Josh Wooden has been very unlucky. He shut down Milne who at the time was leading goalscorer. He then had a poor game against Mcleod and was dropped to WAFL ever since.

Banfield looked far too slow for the slick moves of Nathan Brown. Or even a physical 'in your face' type defender such as Phil Read.

Wirrpunda has to stay in the backline - his mopping up at the floor is awesome.

He has tightneded up much more this year, and he is the only player who can give us the drive from defence we need.

I thought Wirrpunda was ok, Nathan Brown is just very good. Banfield is no Peter Matera, after Matera couldnt run out a full game in the midfield, he was very effective off half back. This isnt working for Banfield, or perhaps it could if he wasnt playing on the oppositions best forward, deep inside the forward 50.

Banfield should have played off half back on McMahon. Would have suited him a lot better IMO instead of deep in defence on the very dangerous Nathan Brown.

But it is time to bring in some actual defenders. I like McIntosh, Green and Wirrpunda down back but we must decide what to do with Jakovich. I think we should play him off the bench as a fix it type bigman to either play up forward or down back, wherever he is needed, he goes. Then we need two ACTUAL defenders. Wooden, Read and Collica come to mind. Carroll and Glass dont cut it though. But we are still a tall short.

Gaspar down back and Doogs at CHF anyone?

Im happy with everything else, just our backline has a few problems.
