In the third quarter last week against Brisbane, Gazza got back that look he gets like a White Pointer cruising for food - slightly hunched over moving through traffic to where the ball will magically appear. Those 2 goals close together were in that period - have'nt seen him up and about in that menacing way for ages - cant wait - he will bring it, we can count on that

Starting to think about this game more and more as the days go by. He's always been difficult bring down but the way he's stood up in tackles in the past couple of games has been great. He's an incredible player and I think we're going to see something special from him. I can already picture the roar and players getting around him after he kicks a goal.

id expect them to go after Gaz on Sat night... they will test him...

The GOAT will rise again

Go Catters

I’ll just share what I subjected my friends on Facebook to. They’re getting sick of my Gary focussed behaviour all week. 😂
——————————————————————-

I have always said, you need to be a Geelong supporter to truly understand just what the Gary Ablett name means to us. It is a legacy that is in my opinion, unmatched in world sport. A legacy that started in 1984, and will finally come to a close tomorrow night.

Gary Ablett Junior. The son of the greatest footballer in club history. A young man under an impossibly large shadow, who against all expectations, not only escaped that shadow, but managed to cast an even greater one himself. After 19 seasons, and 357 games, The Little Master has the chance to retire with a 3rd premiership. A fairytale ending the likes of which you rarely see. The absolute greatest footballer I’ve seen. I will forever miss being able to scream GOAT every time he gets near the ball. Win or lose, I will certainly shed some tears. It’s been an honour to watch his career, and I’m sorry for looking like a complete nuffie, but I just love the bloke bloody heaps.

Geelong supporters, and footy fans in general, take one last look, because we’ll never see anything like it again. ♥️😭🐐

Can bet they will target Joel's injured hand too.

Mitchell, Ling towelled him up and he showed what a dirty dog he was, not fit to tie Ablett's boots. He was however the Premiership captain on the day so winners are grinners.

He was great that day, but if Stokes didn't play, Hawthorn wouldn't have won.
efa?

If anyone hasn't seen this highlights package from the 2008 grand final recently, give it a watch to remind yourself of what G Ablett could do at his peak. So clean, skilful and classy - he displayed incredible vision, evasiveness and strength in this game.

Dam look at those side steps. Never seen any footage since watching live.. he looked good.

My prediction is that he'll be underrated in a couple of years and that there will be some revisionist history about his career. I suspect he'll end up grouped in with the likes of Martin and Judd (Hall of Fame level players, don't get me wrong, but not GOAT level like GAJ) instead of being rightly considered a tier higher than that.

Desperately hope I'm wrong and his undisputed "best player in the comp" status for an unparalleled eight consecutive seasons isn't forgotten. But people have goldfish-like memories when it comes to sport and allow BS narratives to become reality.

Very fortunate to have seen him play.
The greatest player of my time, and feel privileged to have been able to watch him week after week for 15+years.
There will be no other ablett jr, and the AFL world is lesser for it.
Thanks Gary.

I still don’t know how his dad playing six games for the Hawks made him so awesome, but it obviously did.

Having been on the receiving end of some of his best, we were all lucky to have had the chance to witness the freakish things this guy could do through skill and sheer determination.

Enjoy retirement and family life GAJ.
