Since 1997 that's 2 out of 46 or 4.3% of Victorian draftees/recruits who have actively sought to leave Port Adelaide for other clubs while required first team players.

also says 47% of the vics were spuds.

Brad Symes and Shaun Burgoyne were both South Australians who actively sought trades, so we've had as many South Aussies walk out on us as we have Victorians. You could argue that Troy Chaplin should be included in that list, but if he was then South Australian Danyle Pearce would also be included, so it doesn't make a difference either way. Fabian Francis was born in the Northern Territory, but he played SANFL football for the Magpies before making his AFL debut, and he also walked out on the club. If you include Fabian, we've actually lost more South Australians than Victorians.

Somebody should post that on Facebook and see how the plebs react.

Adam Morgan and Brent Guerra both requested trades

Morgan did so because there was no way he was getting a game and Guerra had run his race at Port, hence 'required first team player' stipulation, rather than "LOL PORT I HATE IT HERE" as the media love to peddle.

If you're going to use a `required first team player' stipulation, you should only be listing players that ever were part of the first team.

Brosephine, I thought the point was obvious. We've only ever lost two Victorian players we wanted to keep to the supposedly rife go-home/OMG PORT SUCK factor that the media alleges has crippled us for eternity.

Sure, but who cares what the percentage of players we keep is when the figures are so diluted with `never weres' as that list is.

If you draft 20 duds, 2 good players, and lose 1 of the good ones, having a supposed 95% player retention rate is embarrassing, not a point of pride. Gaining and keeping duds is a mark against a club, and not in any way a positive - any idiot can give Matthew Westhoff a contract extension.

The stats say enough if you try and use legit ones without padding them out.

Every one of them might've turned out to be s**t.

If that's the case - as Ploppy intimated - then the question should be on the virtue of selecting Victorians based on ability, talent and even the overrating of the TAC Cup system beyond the annual cream, not on this horseshit media-driven pleb-swallowed campaign that drafting Victorians is bad because Victorians are predisposed to going home.

Tribey, the only thing that matters is if you lose players that are good.

Its embarrassing that you're listing guys like Willits and Morgans as `Victorian re-signed MISSION ACCOMPLISHED'.

Allan and Derek Murray were NSW/ACT also btw.

Butcher might be in the Willits/Morgan boat, yet. Won't invalidate the fact his 2011 re-signing was something of a coup when we had all sorts of wolves at the door.

Maybe you could post your stat on Facebook or send it in to 5aa.

I don't want to now. Imagine the dressing down Charles Herringbone will have in store for me if yours is any guide.

The Vic media love creaming themselves about luring one of their own back, like that it's just natural that people would want to come back to Melbourne, the greatest city in the world.

Great thread. Now to get the mouth breathers on Facebook to read it and understand it. Haha, who am I kidding...

Should being "Mummy-whipped" & staying in the same state count?
