I'm not a fan of the channel 7 coverage. Kind of sick of the repeats of interviews of the families of the swimmers etc on the Gold Coast. would prefer that we saw more of the actual sport - whether or not Australia is involved.

From the ABC on this morning's rowing performances:

ROWING: Two gold. Two bronze. B Final win. What a day for Australia.
That.Was.Brilliant.
I said I hoped the win in the B Final of the women's double sculls would be a sign of things to come. And was it not?
We have two great chances for gold medals in the fours, and our men and women did it.
We have a medal chance in both the quadruple sculls, and our two crews produced a pair of final 500m in both races to savour.
They were OARsome and deserve their new bronze medals.
They have all done their country proud.

I've watched a couple of replays on the 7 app when they eventually come up, they're a lot better. No interviews, no bullshit, far fewer ads. Sometimes the commentary team isn't even Australian (probably why it takes a couple of days after the event to be uploaded).

I do appreciate when they get Ian Thorpe talking about what it's like and the mechanics/strategies of the sport though.

Yes, all of the ex-Olympians (with the possible exception of Andrew Gaze - whose role is different) have been really good. Georgie Parker at the hockey and Richard Fox have been exceptional.

The Olympics that I watched while living in HK had better coverage of the sport, probably because there wasn't that much local interest or investment. The HK broadcasters simply bought feed from other broadcasters with the result that we saw less Aussie content but more quality sport.

I thought Candice Warner was very good during the women’s triathlon.
I do find myself going on to the 7 app and just clicking on a random sport and watching it for a while. That feature will be really good in the 2nd week when the athletics is on because it tends to get bumped for the basketball/soccer.

Ok...so what is everyone’s opinion about Simone Biles dropping out?
Part of me is good on you for taking the brave step if you were not feeling it.
Part of me is...geez not a great time to tell that one to your team mates. What would they be thinking, halfway through the first apparatus and our best player drops out. Yep I’ve only played sport at crappy levels but have had guys do similar for finals and it kills your team morale.

Porte not riding the Giro or Tour this year, no Ganna competing when he's pretty much the only one who rivals him, WVA being tired after the road race. He should get it
Rohan Dennis seems to be the one people are loving.

Really can't be understated how cooked Delly is. Offense/defense looks so much better when it's Exum/Mills/Matisse in instead.
Great value defensively but that's it. Thybulle really needs to start.

Also not liking the small ball 5 with both Mills and Delly. Should be Mills/Exum/Thybulle/Ingles/Landale or Kay or Baynes

Weird that Exum and Thybulle looked absolutely petrified of shooting the ball out there tonight, even with Landale under the ring. Way too much pressure on Mills and Ingles to score outside the paint.
