Is the herald -sun (and mike shehans) theory true or bulldust ?

I think Mike is pulling a fast one.

If hawthorn do lose to Port adelaide, would it be because they are all 'quaking in their boots' or because three of their best players are out?

It may be a fine theory in the case of richmond but can it be applied to all other teams ? Most of the ones the sun quotes are loer down the ladder anyway.

I don't think there is any doubt that Richmond's confidence did take a battering after the Essendon game.

Hawthorn looked stunned during the game last Saturday - I don't think it matters whether Hawthorn win or lose this weekend, what will be more important, at least in the context of this argument - is how the play the game.

If they play well and go down in a tight one, it will make the Hangover theory look like bollocks.

Play like ********e and it will have some credence.

I agree with this theory... in that aside from the Bombers the other 15 teams are fairly even... and a drop in confidence is all the difference that is needed (or not) to turn a teams fortunes around...

Given that I believe the Saints haven't recovered from the Hawthorn game in 99 yet, then certainly I believe a crushing defeat at the hands of Essendon can affect the confidence and morale of teams with pretensions or ambitions of premierships.

I think tomorrow will be an interesting test of the theory....if Hawthorn fight and lose because Port play very well or the Hawks cannot cover their injury losses, then the theory is rubbish. But if the Hawks put in a shocker tomorrow, well maybe it's true. But Port won after playing Essendon, and I think Collingwood did as well (although they had a big break).

As for that Hawthorn - St.Kilda game, where were the Saints on the ladder at the time??? I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure they were in the 8 at the time...unbelievable that 60 minutes of football can affect you like that, but there's no doubt it does...both for the Saints and the Hawks, who improved greatly after that win.

we were 2nd about to go top. it makes me sick to think about it.

Most exciting game of footy I've ever been to, rivalled only by the merger match of 96, and certainly pretty close to the best win I've ever seen Hawthorn have....I can still remember the crowd at 3 quarter time after Holland kicked that goal...everyone was going crazy the whole 3-quarter time break....

and then when dicko was running in to put us in front, how everyone was standing up willing the ball on....I silll get pumped up even thinking about it!!!! :D
