Port Adelaide MAGPIES Round 1 vs ?
F: Edwards - Buzza - Cox

Struggling to take the exercise seriously at this early stage after that FF line.

I'd like to see Ladhams played as a CHF and have Dixon play deeper - neither will likely happen.
I'd like to see Garner on the HFF as a Monfries playing tall.
If Motlop plays it has to be the crumbing small forward.

F: Marshall - Dixon - Motlop
HF: Garner - Ladhams - Rozee
C: Amon - Boak - Duursma
HB: Burton - Westhoff - Watts
B: Byrne-Jones - Clurey - Jonas

R: Lycett - Houston - Gray
INT: Ebert, Wines, Rockliff, SPP

I can't settle on a 22 yet.
Will pick 12 and 18 get Round 1 gigs?

Marshall based on his last 18 month record, Dixon based on his last 2 years, Hartlett based on his North Melbourne game should never probably even be contemplated without solid SANFL performances behind them, to play them in round 1 - just because - is accepting the same garbage and thats what you will get.

Marshalls 18 month record where he has 13 wins and 4 losses playing with a s**t club?

Dixon's two years of injuries?

And when they play for a club where the only other tall forward we have is Wylie buzza?

And Hammer on one s**t game where there were probably 5 blokes worse you haven't mentioned?

If we're gonna not play players for garbage performances they've put in at AFL level in the last two years our best 22 will be pretty much Travis Boak, Connor rozee, Xavier Duursma and 19 debutants.

So we just play literally zero key forwards in Round 1 then? Ken Hinkley likes this.

Real big of you to refer to Marshall's '18 month record' when his dad died about 18 months ago, by the way. Like, maybe there's a reason that his form dropped off about 18 months ago.

just stating the facts, if he's got problems then its pretty simple he shouldnt be playing, if he puts his hand up to play then play, or are we welfare club.

He kicked 7 goals in his last 4 games at AFL level, there's another fact for you. But nah let's just focus on the fact that he struggled for form 18 months ago immediately after his father died. Spud delist.

I just don't understand you singling him out.

Ollie obviously has had issues too and has barely put in a performance worthy of his paygrade or half captaincy. Why not talk about Ollie not starting round 1 next year?

I'm not saying it's wrong to enforce standards. Just saying there are probably 15+ guys on our list that deserve to be singled out well before the three you have mentioned.

yeh your right, Ollie is captain vanilla, but ive made that point pretty clear in recent time. My main point with Marshall is people have been blowing his bags up based on very little, i can see the potential and he will be an AFL player but i dont think once in his whole career we have been a solid block of 4 or 5 games as SANFL level where you could say lets take him up a level, The best indication with Marshall and the style he plays would be his GPS data, if he's not covering 12+ k's a match then he's not working hard enough

I reckon you are pretty close although I think Bonner will get picked over Garner.

Can anyone tell me if Garner has enough speed to shut down the speedy small forwards, I've like what I've seen of him but can't recall if he has much pace at all.

He is certainly not slow but appears to lack acceleration and a bit one paced? I still reckon he will find his place but don't think he will be a running defender.
Probably more of a tough nut with a good kick. Not sure who I'd compare him to though.
