We have really had a rotten luck with injuries. A third of our list is out injured and of those I would say that 6-8 would arguably be in our best 22.

Goodwin will miss 6-8 weeks.
Carey won't play before Carlton game.
Stevens will probably be a week after.
I don't think that Clarke, Burns and Bode will be back for next week either.

This is turning out to be a year of bad luck:(

Yup, even when we get all these blokes back on board we'll be swimming against the tide as far as finals go - best case scenario would be an 'away' Prelim at Footy Park.

Adelaide's full list is good enough to win a flag if the footy gods were to smile on us.

Unfortunately they have chosen to cr*p on us instead so far.

My big worry is that the way our fortunes are travelling we won't be in a genuine challenging position come finals time.

The old cliche of "but you still have 22 players out there" is absolute rubbish of course when you are replacing 6 or 7 of your best players with players 26 to 32 from your list (player 38 in Marsh's case)

All we can do is keep plugging away and hope that the footy gods get constipation so that the cr*pping on us can cease!! ;)

BTW, if anyone ever slams Clarke again I will personally give them a kick up the arse.:(

We got spanked in the ruck today.:(

We might be forced to go into next week with only one ruckman. McGregor could be used as a back up.:(

They'll have a very sore arse, because they'll get a kick there from me too Stiffy!!

It's no coincidence that we got beaten in the mid-field in the one game that Clarke didn't play in!!!

Good they'll deserve it.;)

Biglands and Marsh got a fair few hitouts but majority of them were ineffective. Spider on the other hand had most of his hitouts effective. I just hope and pray that Clarke will be OK for the Melbourne game. From all the injured players I thought he was the one we missed the most.:(

Bring back Clarke!!!!!!
...and Stevens, Carey, Burns, Stenglein, Bode and Goody.:(

So if Clarke is out next week. and Marsh is out for a month now, who could possibly be back-up ruck for Biglands? Is there anyone on the rest of the senior list or rookie list we can put in for teh next match?

There is no genuine back up. We only have the 3 ruckmen, either on the main list or the rookie list.

It's Biglands or nobody.

We only have 3 ruckman on our list so if Clarkey misses, I would think that McGregor will pinch hit in the ruck to give biglands a bit of a breather.

Not a bad "side"

Dont worry. We might get Reilly back sooner than expected because of injuries.

He has a week left, and I thought he would be playing maybe three to four games with Sturt before warranting a call-up, but he might only play one or two because of injuries to key players. Should be interesting to see what happens with this.

Did the Club go too hard with the players early in the year, winning the Wizard Cup, only to be paying for it now with all these injuries? Or is it a coincidence?

Majority of our injuries are of Impact or structural sort. If we were talking a lot of soft tissue injuries then yes but its mainly impact injuries ike busted thumbs, broken wrists, rolled ankles, sprained knees etc. Those are more of impact caused injuries.

So I don't really think thats the case. Infact a lot of these players are missing 4-6 games which will give their body a rest. If we manage to get a top 4 spot and those players come back then I think we are in a VERY good spot come finals time.;) If we don't finish in top 4 then I don't think we have put ourselves in a position to give ourselves for best shot at the premiership.

I hope we get em back so that we can develop a system before the finals come around. i

e Individual players must be finding it hard used in a variety of positions and it mucks around with team balance along the way.

The next two games are important...but Im not confident:eek:

I am sending in the RSPCA. We MUST, MUST, MUST get rid of that pescy Black Cat that must be living at AAMI Stadium. There is no way that one club can have soooooooooo many injuries.

AAAAHHHH!!!! When we get one back, another two fall down.

I have always said I am a better player than Ben Marsh, I guess I will wait by the phone for Gary to give me a call this week - I am happy to give Rhett a go, maybe I can rest at Full Forward like all good Ruckmen. It doesn't matter that James Gallagher is taller than me, I have the jump of Trent Ormond-Allen. Might head out the back and practice my tapping.

Even if you are knee high to a grasshopper and have never played the game, you would still be a better player than Ben Marsh!! :D

I thought Marsh competed OK yesterday. We almost broke even in the ruck yesterday 46 to 50. (Biglands 26 Marsh 13, Everitt 43)

I wish they'd show head-to-head ruck stats, i.e. Biglands v Everitt, Marsh v Everitt etc. And how many hitouts were to advantage, things like that.

I have to agree with you he competed OK before getting injured. Both him and Biglands were guilty of not directing their taps better but I was a little pleasantly surprised by Marsh yesterday. He took a mark and his only possesion hit a target. He threw himself at the ball end buggered his knee.

I think Marsh has never been the same after knee reco.:( I think its a confidence thing with Marsh.:(

My daughter was at Melbourne Airport on Saturday night and said Ricciuto was limping very badly. I think he needs a break to get over whatever soft tissue injury he's carrying as he cannot chase etc.

Considering our injuries, and whatever we don't know the players are carrying, I admire that fact that the players never give in. We've been relying a lot on our second tier players and haven't looked like getting blown out of the water.

However, looking at our draw for the rest of the season, I think a final four spot is out of our reach and, unless we can get some our our players back and in form, we may struggle to make the eight.

Cheers,

a.j.
