What were you doing there?

My boyfriend at the time took me over. The older guy was a friend of his. I think I only went there maybe one more time. I was happy to let my BF visit on his own as I didn't find the old guy particularly interesting and I trusted my BF. "You go over if you want, I'll stay home and <insert random excuse>.

It might have been a year later that I was up in our attic looking for some junk when I came across a nude full-frontal photo of my boyfriend, which I had never seen. I confronted him about it when he got home later that day. He told me it had been taken (for cash) by the older guy "long before we met".

And I replied 'then how can you be wearing the neck-chain I bought you only a few months ago'...

That is the nude photo I still possess.

No. That relationship ended that night...
I'm sorry to hear that but not surprised.
My marriage ended the night I found out my husband had screwed the neighbour. I only found out because of a comment my 4 year old daughter made...Out of the mouths of babes LOL..
Mind you, it took me 14 more years to escape him :worried:
But yes, I know how you would have felt :'(

FRESH investigations into the Family murders will concentrate on up to three suspects – but up to 10 others will also come under scrutiny.
Detectives believe it is likely the associates – several of them high-profile – can provide vital evidence to assist the investigation.
Many were interviewed during the initial investigations into the Family murders, but did little to co-operate with police.
The existence of The Family, a close-knit group of Adelaide homosexuals, was uncovered by detectives investigating the murder of Richard Kelvin in 1983.
The detectives discovered the group, which preyed on young men and teenage boys, had been flourishing for a decade before Kelvin's murder in 1983.
The key players of the group specialised in picking up young male hitchhikers, drugging them and then sexually abusing them.

The deaths of four others – Mark Langley, Alan Barnes, Neil Muir and Peter Stogneff – have been linked to the group, most notably through a 1988 coronial inquest.
So far the public is aware of the identity of just one Family member – Bevan Spencer von Einem, who was convicted in 1984 of murdering Kelvin.
Investigations into the other sex killings continued throughout the 1980s following von Einem's conviction. In late 1989, von Einem was charged with murdering Barnes and Langley, but the charges were withdrawn in 1991 when crucial similar fact evidence was ruled inadmissible.
The police investigations that resulted in those charges discovered the Family consisted of three to four core members and their associates – or peccadilloes as police dubbed them.
The core members included von Einem, an eastern suburbs businessman, a doctor who now lives interstate and another man, a former male prostitute, who was a close friend of von Einem and the businessman.
The associates included several well-known members of the legal fraternity, the brother of a well-known Olympic sportsman and other men, some well-known in sections of the community.
The identity of one senior principal – the businessman – has been suppressed since 1990. The supression was granted during von Einem's committal hearing into the Barnes and Langley murder charges.
The names of the other two principal members and two associates were last year suppressed in Adelaide Magistrates Court after being aired in unrelated case.
Several other associates have died in recent years, one is currently in prison in Indonesia and one is currently the subject of Pedophile Task Force investigations.
While detectives believe the same core members were most likely involved in each murder, different associates were either indirectly involved, had knowledge of the individual murders and in some cases were not involved but continued to interact with those who were indirectly involved because of their lifestyle.
While each of the men came from different walks of life, they all had one thing in common – they actively sought out young males for sex. They frequented gay beats around the city and socialised in gay haunts such as the Pulteney 431 sauna, the old Green Dragon Hotel, the Colonel Light, the Buckingham Arms or the Mars Bar.
For the principals, picking up hitchhikers and drugging them was perhaps their major source of prey. Police believe they engaged in such activity hundreds of times during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
They were armed with stupifying drugs such as Rohypnol, Mandrax and Noctec – supplied by two doctors known to police – which were slipped into alcohol given to their unwitting victims.
Many victims awoke disoriented the next morning – in the houses of either of two associates usually – suffering injuries after being sexually assaulted.
Others were not so lucky.

An Adelaide man who spent the last fours years in an Indonesian jail for sexually abusing teenaged boys is being deported back to Australia.
Former boxing promoter Donald John Storen, 61, was in Indonesian immigration department custody in Bali on Tuesday awaiting a Wednesday morning flight to Perth.
Storen was released from prison on the neighbouring island of Lombok last month after finishing his sentence and has been awaiting deportation ever since.
Storen was jailed in 2006 for sexually abusing four boys, aged 13 to 15, in Lombok's Senggigi resort area, where he worked as a hotel manager.
Storen's trial was told he lured the boys to his hotel room with promises of cash and other inducements. The boys were then paid as little as $A5 each in return for sexual favours.
He would take off their clothes and watch pornographic videos with them before abusing them, the court was told.
Storen maintained his innocence throughout the trial, claiming the boys made up the accusations to avoid being charged for breaking into his room and stealing his things.
Storen's appeal was dismissed by Indonesia's Supreme Court in 2007.

-----------

The former Adelaide businessman Donald John Storen, a one-time boxing promoter and friend of the former South Australian premier Don Dunstan, was arrested on Saturday over accusations he lured four boys aged between 13 and 15 into having sex with him.
Bump. A 2014 blast from the past.

This is how Storen got connected to the case. In Debi Marshall's doco or podcast she says she was successful in getting 5 suppression orders lifted. She's explicit on 3 of them; Turtur, Firman, and Gant, but unclear on the other two. She says 4 of the 5 are dead, as well as 1 being a key witness and 3 being TGs.

My reckoning is;

Alive: Turtur
Dead: Firman
Dead: Brook
Dead: Gant
Dead: Brown

or

Key witness: Turtur
TG : Firman
TG: Brook
TG: Gant
Other: Brown

Storen was mentioned by DM so he can't be under suppression. I don't think he can be one of the 5 lifted because he's alive and well. It is possible of course that he was under suppression but that was lifted before DM got involved. Woodards must have been under supression as well, but he was outed by the media in circa 2011.

So who else could "Indo Prison Man" be?

the person who shared it said "end of the 70s" - which i would assume would be approximated by them too

I have another amazing coincidence with this case that has me thinking now I have read about all locations of the key players on this site, it was back in 88 I was about to get married, my fiancé had booked a trip to Bali with a travel agency that I think was called Golden Bali Tours or something similar and she asked me to go and pay the balance of the account a few days before the wedding, so off I went, this wasn’t a normal travel agency in a shopping centre this office was located upstairs in an old building on Unley road, immediately upon entering the office I got this odd feeling that the two guys in there were very different and overtly friendly towards me, it creeped me out so I paid the money got the tickets and itinerary and got the hell out of there as fast as I could go down the stairs of this old building
A few days / weeks we later got married and off we went to Bali and the area that we were staying in was in Sanur which was fine but I had hoped to be in Kuta but we soon realised that the area (Sanur)we were staying in had lots of older single western men staying there, we didn’t think much of it at the time until late one night whilst walking back along the beach to the hotel we stumbled across groups of these older men hanging around with some very young local boys in a very dark spot on the edge of the beach, some where between the old Bali Beach Hotel (where we were staying) and the old Bali Hyatt ( since closed) you could probably call the place “ a beat” it was a bit confronting at the time and we took off and we avoided the beach at night for the rest of the trip. Bali was a very different place then to what you see now and Sanur is still very quiet and a bit run down now compared to the Seminyak/ Kuta region
why, you may ask have I raised this experience on this forum? Well the main reason is this; i drove past the clockmans building again today on the way home from work and Im sure that where the travel office was located was very near by or even right above that very the same shop

our Bali experience certainly fits with the MO of the characters in the threads of this blog to be just a coincidence don’t you think?
any one else heard of or experienced this travel company in the Late 80s?

I have some information that may be able to pin point the location where RK was abducted but first need to cross check some facts. Does anyone have a link to check SA marriages from 1982 onwards?

I just re-read this part of Young Blood

 • RK and Carl walked up Ward and turned right at O'Connell. Bus stop is 34 O'Connell.
 • Cops did a door knock the next day down Ward St assuming this was his route home. No leads
 • Another day later they widened the search. Someone in Margaret St heard something that sounded like an abduction. This was at 6:15pm (it was dark)
 • O'Brien says if this info is correct then he was abducted 50m from his home.

Even though the ear witness was in Margaret St, it puts the most likely point of abduction on Ward St near the intersection of Margaret.

Yeah pretty sure that’s where it must have been, and sadly the only people who really know either can’t or won’t say

Police had 4 witnesses, 2 on Ward st. and others on Margaret st. Still unclear exactly where abduction was.

Further to my earlier post (2078) in either February or March 1993 a friend told me his partner was a police witness in the RK case. He told me she heard the abduction and also provided a description of the car used. He told me that police found the car which was sold after the abduction and the boot had been re-painted. Young Blood was published in 2002 and confirms the story about the car but I was expecting the author to expand on the information this witness provided however there was no new information. I assumed is was a case of police keeping information to themselves so they can check future witness statements. I'm still trying to find the address of this witness which I'm hoping will pin-point location of RK abduction.

How sure are that it's Storen? I think it's likely to be Storen but can't see a link between Storen and the Family. Another name mentioned is a Charles Barnett, but Storen is a better fit.
Read this pls

Having another look at Frozen Lies episode 4. The photo is of DS bedroom, gun that's circled I'm assuming was the one used to kill him. Can anyone identify the item in the glass case? Must be something of value to be in a glass case. Is it an antique? Clock? DS house is about 3km from Mr. R's antique shop.

Looks like it’s on a stand, and vaguely egg shaped. Could be a faberge egg. Too fuzzy to say.

What I learnt from Octopussy is that Faberge Eggs are about the size of a cricket ball. So to scale with the gun, that object is far larger. But the shape is very similar.
