Official Match Thread - Season 40 Round 12: Sin City Swamprats vs Fighting Furies at The Underground Stadium
Last time they met Furies comfortably dispatch the 'Rats for their first win of the season. Fighting Furies 15.13 (103) defeat Sin City Swamprats 11.5 (71) LINK Captains please have your team sheets in by 11:59pm Thursday AWST.www.bigfooty.com
The Furies appeared desperate to establish their "lose on their own merits" bona fides, with another middling performance in Round 12. Despite another BOG performance from star ruck TRUMAN#1 (14 hit-outs, 28 disposals, 5 tackles, 2 goals), this did not translate into midfield dominance, with Greenery (15 disposals, 6 tackles, 2 behinds) and NaturalDisaster (17 disposals, 7 tackles, 1 behind) struggling to gain first possession, though both did put in excellent defensive shifts. Pickitt (25 disposals, 3 marks) was prolific in the middle, as was Orange crush (20 disposals, 8 marks) on one wing, though crazywildhorse (16 disposals, 1 mark, 2 tackles) was below his best on the other, Off the bench, rfctigerarmy (17 disposals, 3 marks, 2 tackles) continued his recent vein of good form, and Rioli8217 (11 disposals, 4 marks, 1 goal) made the most of his opportunities.
Up forward, ShaunDuggan saw his Fred Medal dream slip further away, returning only 2 goals (from 2 kicks, 1 tackle), though SplintWhisky (6 disposals, 2 marks, 1 goal) found a way to be creative whenever he got space, and Grockadoc contributed wherever he could with his 8 disposals and 2 marks. Supersuns was well down on his best, having only the 4 disposals and 1 mark at CHF, and Sab22 (7 disposals, 2 marks) also struggled to get involved in proceedings, though Frothies Mcveigh (11 disposals, 2 marks, 3 tackles, and 2 goals) found his hard work pay off with some scoreboard impact.
Toump Ass tried all day, though having only the 10 disposals and 1 tackle while having 5 goals kicked on him was not reward for effort, which was also the story of Chronz' day (10 disposals, 2 marks, 1 tackle). Bastyy (4 disposals, 1 goal 2 behinds) and Edmund hunt (4 disposals, 1 tackle, 2 goals 1 behind) counter-attacked from the pockets, and omgfridge (22 disposals, 7 marks, 1 disposal) was nothing but effective from his flank. In a shocking turn of events, James Colorado actually had a positive impact upon the match, having 21 disposals, 5 marks, and 2 tackles.

The Week the Previews Never Came ’Twas Halloween in Sweet FA, The threads lay cold, the teams astray. The forums dark, devoid of cheer. Just jittering fingers on keyboards near. They stalked the board in pale despair, Their faces lit by monitor glare. Each hour passed. No verse, no...www.bigfooty.com
If there was one lesson the Furies were able to take from the last couple of games, it is that trying to kick a winning score should not really be a novel approach. Unfortunately, the Furies' have never been good at doing more than one thing at a time, and clearly did not have a double major that included restricting your opponent. Despite an exceptional attacking performance, punctuated by superior accuracy, the two-way effort of the Furies was, to put it gently, "somewhat lacking" enabling the Roys to kick a basketball score of their own.
In a BOG performance in a close loss, ShaunDuggan recaptured his Fred Medal form of Season 38, kicking 10 goals 3 behinds from 13 kicks and 2 marks, in a spectacular display that saw his signing autographs for an hour after the match, even for those who were just trying to get home, their rideshare drivers, and a bloke with no interest in qooty who was just out walking his dog. Grockadoc got involved in everything in the forward line, having 23 disposals, 3 tackles, and a goal, though SplintWhisky only played a cameo, and a very effective one at that, his sole kick resulting in a goal. Supersuns recaptured his best form at CHF, with 17 disposals, 8 marks, 1 tackle, and 3 goals 1 behind, with Frothies Mcveigh (16 disposals, 5 marks, 2 goals 1 behind) also having a big game on one flank, though on the other, Sab22 was a little quieter, with 9 disposals, 5 marks, and 1 tackle.
TRUMAN#1's strong form continued, with 20 hit-outs, 26 disposals, 2 marks, and 2 goals, though once again Greenery (9 disposals, 2 marks, 1 tackle) and NaturalDisaster (20 disposals, 2 tackles) weren't able to capitalise. Pickitt (22 disposals, 5 marks, 4 tackles, 1 goal) had another big game in the centre, with crazywildhorse (24 disposals, 9 marks, 1 behind) returning to form, though Orange crush (1 kick) had the quietest game of his career. Off the bench, Rioli8217 (12 disposals, 2 marks, and a goal) was tireless, though rfctigerarmy's recent form hit a slump, having only the 7 disposals, 2 marks, and a tackle.
In such a high-scoring contest the defence normally faces a lot of pressure, and Toump Ass did well to have only the 6 goals kicked on him with the amount of F50 entries the Roys had, still having 14 disposals, 3 marks, and 1 tackle to his name. Edmund hunt (13 disposals, 2 marks, and 2 tackles) was very busy in the pocket, though it was Bastyy who went everywhere from the other pocket, having 31 disposals, 7 marks, and a behind. The half-back line did struggle under the Roy's pressure, with CHB Chronz (7 disposals, 1 mark) and flanker omgfridge (11 disposals, 8 marks, and a tackle) being down on output, though James Colorado's performance of 14 disposals and 2 marks was really just a reversion to the mean for him.
