Smart batting for Whiteman. With Bancroft ticking the score over he didn’t need to do anything silly & take any risks. He can accelerate later & not giving Victoria a cheap wicket was more important.

To be fair, WA are a better opponent than England.

Even though there doesn't appear to be any spin surely Holland as a front line bowler is a better option than Merlo's part time mediums.

Could have used that catch being held by Will even though it was a tough chance

Traditional bonus point system applies so 0.01 for every run after 200 in the first 100 overs and 0.1 for every wicket in first 100 overs.

If it is a draw then the team with most bonus points wins the Shield.

If WA keeps batting here they will cross 200 in about 16 overs, leaving 38 overs to score points - again, current rate has that at 123 runs by the 100th over = 1.23 points

I think it’s very smart, see it as a 100 over bonus point shootout, know you’re 100 over target then puts the pressure on WA if we get ahead.

Because of the new rules, it’s a 100 over game so know what you need. WA clearly produced a traditional final pitch probably thinking a draws all they need.

I’m not sure you can play Jon Holland at the WACA if your 4th seamer is Merlo. Leaves you pretty light on.
