Im coming to the end of day two of my break from my team. Geez its been hard! For the first 5-6 hours of the first day, i was really really tempted just to ditch the idea.

Im actually glad. Havent had to play around with my team without grimes and skipworth (not that i had them, more that i was considering them), and it means i havent changed my team on any news from the freako today.

Waiting for fantasy freako mail before i finalize my team. I have many trades in mind but still waiting for the full rundown of dt scores over the preseason to support my trades.

Worked on my team for a good 2-3 hours or so today after looking through the freako mail.

I am finally finished and am very happy with my team so far. Don't plan on making any more changes until the squads are named and of course if any injuries occur before the season starts.

I did that and it lead me to insanity. I couldn't pick a decent team again. Luckily I'm almost set on one.

Im actually very settled with my team now and dont think much will change at all. Even the rookies, because i know a rookie can play round 2 or 3 and not be named for round 1 and do well. I might pick a Beams if an Anthony isnt named or something along those lines or a Dangerfield instead of a Ziebell for example. My 7 backs are deadset locked and my 4 rucks are locked with Jacobs being my 4th ruck.

The only doubt i have is surounding Hill and where to play him. He gives great backup to the backs who of mine i must say are a bit vulnerable. A player with 94 carry over points, a player that hasnt played a full season in 4 years, 2 players that barely got around at all last year. With 2 players on the bench that might struggle for best 22. Cheyney is now really being considered by me along with Rance which i think might be best 22 now. I still question it though.

I guess yeah rookies will be the only thing that might change and the unanswerable question of who to pick at of A/B/C??

For the first time in about two months my team is Brent-less, and for the first time in about two months I can confidently say I'm happy with my team. I think it might just be a coincidence though .

Here I was thinking that my team was done and dusted (hence the thread) and then I find out some info about a few players I had picked that makes me rethink. So its back to the old drawing board and see if I can make some adjustments that can see me get the feeling of satisfaction back again. Why can't the season start already?

I think it would be too hard to get A/B/C all in the same side come season end if you did not start any of them. Have also done Swans first 6 rounds and expect a slow start from him. So i think i could bring him in later on.

Corey gets a very good start in the opening 4-5 rounds and is more consistant, cheaper and Ausyid has him . But he has struggled a bit in NAB with scores of 2 x 70's in last 2 games. I think Ablett shows more value than the other 2 which is why i will pick him (even though value at the premiums doesnt mean as much).

If Beams plays and i can see him as a regular best 22 for the first 6-8 rounds along with Anthony and Otten i think i could find 1 of those players playing once each week. This means i downgrade Hill getting more money than upgrading Petrenko to Hill in the back bench for super security.

Hill + Petrenko
vs
Hill + Beams (probably like the beams one more however i take Hill away from scoring in my 22 meanign that one of Anthony, Otten and Beams msut play and score well. All have shown when they get TOG they score extremely well).

Could also Downgrade Haselby to Skipworth, Get Lucas in forwards instead of Skipworth than downgrade Hill to maybe a Polkinghorne, Dangerfield, Ziebell and upgrade Petrenko to Hill in backs.

Im very happy with my team though. Just hope my backs can hold up and Suban and Petrenko can play most games. Petrenko is my biggest worry (Proud 08).

Finally I think I have finalised my side.....

Only dilema is picking Corey and D.Thomas in my side or Cooney and Harvey/Didak.

At this stage I have gone the later with Harvey to play safe but still unsure.

First option has pro's and cons but second option is less risky.

Any advise??

I had my squad all set on the proviso that Jesse Smith played round 1, however thats no longer the case and I have to rejig my team further. Opting to stay away from the likes of Geary, I have to downgrade other players to free up cash to get a 250-300 k backmen.

I'm pretty much finalised. Only one guy that I could end up changing, but apart from that im settled. It's funny how 1-2 changes a day for 5 weeks really changes the look of your team

I have Ziebell and Walker starting in my forwards (my only players under 200k so I dont have SKipworth and all them) and pretty scared about that.
I have 20k left.. does anyone think there is a better option then Ziebell?

But yeah pretty much finalised.

Don't bother, Gia will do better than both of them. Averaged 94-ish last year despite only playing 87 minutes of game time, and that was significantly lower than what he'd played in preseason so I'd be surprised if he doesn't play more game time and therefore improve his scores. Plus he hasn't missed a game in two years and is super, super consistent.

Hentschel and Yarran both are IMO. Ziebell has very low job security.

Yes it is. Pretty sure Swallow played something like 20 games in his debut year. The Laidley factor doesn't affect midfielders IMO.

Depends on situation mate. Who would of thought mid 70s would of cut it as a back keeper last year? Yet it did...

I dont think Ziebell is best 22 and the NAB games should show this, also dont think he played last nab game. I have found it hard to get more than 12 keepers in my starting side. I think you need that balance of top end players and than the players who you expect to be keepers the next year. The scores to win should be higher due to the increased forward and backline depth at the top end.

Speaking of Finalised Squads, it could be useful to have a look at what you would want your squad to resemble (in a dream run) at the end of the season. Most people would obviously have a similar idea, but discounting injury, where do you want your squad to be at Round 18 (or earlier)?
