Howe, Treloar & Moore for Ox, Madgen & Murphy = win flag

Murphy replaced Murray.

Anyway, for me, assuming Moore and Treloar are fit in the first week:

B: Maynard Howe Langdon
HB: Varcoe Moore Crisp
C: Mayne Pendlebury Phillips
HF: De Goey Mihocek Hoskin-Elliott
F: Thomas Cox Stephenson
FOL: Grundy Adams Sidebottom
INT: Treloar Aish Sier Greenwood

EMER: Daicos, C Brown, Appleby, Madgen

Probably not a good selection. I really want Treloar and Sier to fit in the same team, but would need some work, perhaps by having Treloar spend most of the time in the forward line.

In terms of emergencies, Daicos and Callum Brown have a decent amount of senior experience this year, while I rate Appleby over Murray personally. I've named Madgen over McLarty as the tall emergency purely because of senior experience.

Looking at that team I put together, I realise now maybe C Brown should be dropped from the emergency list in favour of Blair. This is a finals team, probably would help to have as many players as possible available who have had finals experience.

I'm also making the assumption that Ben Reid won't be back.

My changes, taking an optimistic view on injury recoveries, would be:

IN: Howe - OUT: Oxley
IN: Treloar - OUT: Greenwood
IN: Moore - OUT: Madgen
IN: Appleby - OUT: Murphy

Making this the finals 22:

FB: - Langdon - Moore - Appleby
HB: - Crisp - Howe - Maynard

Mid: - Phillips - Sidebottom - Aish
Fol: - Grundy - Adams - Pendlebury

HF: - Thomas - Mihocek - Stephenson
FF: - De Goey - Cox - WHE

Int: Treloar, Sier, Mayne, Varcoe

Moore and Appleby to steady us defensively. Oxley is place sitting right now. I like Appleby because he is solid defensively and frees up Crisp and Maynard. I like Madgen but not sure he stays in. It'll be interesting if they stick with him if Moore returns.

Treloar to add some class to the team. Hard to pick who he replaces out of Greenwood, Mayne and Sier. I picked Greenwood although concede he'd be handy in a tagging role. I went with Mayne for his composure and Sier for the edge he provides us on ball and delivering it forward.

My big concern: injury risk! But I reckon we roll the dice and go for it!

Treloar I’d done for the year for me, would be risky to bring into finals a player that has missed so much football...even if it is Treloar.

Goldy I fear fits into that category too, although we’ll get a glimpse of him this week in the VFL!

Moore could slot back in if required...can we risk him breaking down mid game in a final though?

Howe the only in i fear.

I would prefer to take a risk on Treloar or Goldsack rather than Moore. Moore is consistently susceptible to soft tissue injuries.

This may be because of his playing style, his position or physiology. Either way, Treloar and Goldsack are not known to be as injury prone and certainly more “hardened” than Moore.

Plus, I think both Goldsack and Treloar are presently better players than Moore.

In: Howe
Out: Oxley

In: Treloar
Out: Aish (nearly went with Greenwood but he's got a body and style more ready for finals footy)

In: Appleby or if ready Goldsack (this choice may also come down to who we're playing. We'll need Goldy for Eagles IMO)
Out: Murphy

If we got to be involved in four weeks of finals I think something like this 22 and 4 emergencies.
Also we know who is out for season.
Goldsack is not enough appeal for me as I like him when there’s a full preseason and full uninterrupted season.
