One would think... but that would require a coach who is actually capable of identifying that problem.

There’s a number of other tatics they could also employ like bringing dixion further upfield and playing a smaller forward/midfielder one out deep.

Or running numbers off the back of the square to flood the forward line when the ball hits the ground after a forward 50 entry.

It’s school boy stuff but Hinkley is too stubborn for that sort of logic
Hinkley had his best success when they had the fittest team & he had strategic assistants around him in Walsh & Richardson.

Now he no longer has these advantages...

The footy media has got so big that to remain relevant they mostly all talk just for the sake of it, which mostly results in them talking crap.

Now I know a lot on here love AFL 360 but I find it the biggest wank on Fox Footy.

You’ve got Whately who just gushes like a little kid and Robbo who mumbles as if he’s got a mouth full of beer nuts. Most of the time they just talk shit and then you’ve got the weekly guests who actually say nothing.
I don’t mind whately
But Robbo makes me move onto 505 before the screen shows the picture. Or the speakers blast out noise.

On the couch - stopped caring when walls left. When was that, 10 years ago?
Ok, Carey was good for that first season but since then.
God, hate it.

He’ll, anything with David king on it I switch off when he’s talking. He’s a dumb arse masquerading in the media with every statistician in fox footy in his ear, AND HE STILL GETS IT WRONG HALF THE TIME

And bounce? Childish humour! It’s Foxtel version of the footy show

There’s only 2 shows I even consider watching
On the mic - but even then, they give me some 1970s or 1980s Victorian who I can’t name half the time, so don’t waste time there
Fox league teams - it is worse than it used to be. But it’s just tolerable......assuming Dermott can keep his mouth shut

Never the fittest team
You do know their secret right?
Red bull at half time
That sugar hit gave them quite a bit of energy.

Their best weapon in their finals year was probably having next to no injury list.
Their depth (or lack there of) was never tested

Well they were overrunning teams at the end of the games, which was their biggest edge, regardless of the reasoning.

Was this a secret?

Or rather, was it a secret which is now known?

I think they just had the belief that they were fitter than the rest. They had some hotshot fitness guy and the media were telling them how good they were. On top of that Hinkley also motivated them to the point where they believed that.
Now they realise they are just about as fit as everyone else.

I think Hinkley is a great assistant, he can motivate players fairly well, he isn't as bad as we make him out to be, but he isn't as good as Port people make him out to be when they were doing well. Somewhere in between.

He's certainly being paid like a top of the line coach though.

What's his issue?

Would be ironic if he is complaining about media behaviour...
Especially after he made posts a couple of years ago insinuating that Eddie Betts had illegally accepted money from Adelaide to come here as a free agent
