https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Editor-at-large

An editor-at-large is a journalist who contributes content to a publication. Sometimes such an editor is called a roving reporter or roving editor.

Unlike an editor who works on a publication from day to day and is hands-on, an editor-at-large contributes content also on a semi-regular basis and has less of a say in matters such as layout, pictures or the publication's direction.

Editors-at-large are more independent; they are allowed their own preferences in the content they have to generate, and they do not always have to pitch their ideas to the main editor. Though they are still subject to the direction and oversight of chief editors and executive editors, they frequently come up with ideas for other writers to research and write. "At large" means the editor has no specific assignments, but rather works on whatever interests them.
So effectively Rucci can do what he wants

Koch is a lot of things.
Stupid isnt one of them.

Never heard that phrase used like that...and neither has google from the looks either.

Although there is a phrase of russian origin which translates to not a monk and it means non-drinker.

Guess that doesnt suit your narrative though hey?
I haven't been a monk is a reasonably common euphemism. Google books gets two results with that specific phrase.

But I guess that doesn't suit your narrative though hey?

I googled the phrase itself...couldnt find much at all. Certainly nothing where it was used in that context.
Did find a phrase that means non-drinker.

Clearly not as common as you think. TWO books in the whole world have that saying in it? Well strike me pink...

You're part of the problem with the world...

I googled the phrase itself and found some results, irritatingly I can't find the exact one I remember because it refers explicitly to sexual assault.

Lets be honest. If Fagan had said this, nobody would be making the same fuss.
I'm betting the Port Board Non Port Discussion Thread would be having a meltdown actually.

And I'd definitely call it what footy4ever does above, at the least a very unfortunate case of foot in mouth.

Oh you now cant find it?
Convenient.

If it was that 'common' it would be at the top.
There would be a definition.
It would be quoted in various places.
Its not.

Hell even Urban Dictionary doesnt have a definition. Thats how you KNOW its not used how you're saying it is.

The reference is to monks not moving from their homes, meditating and being completely private in their lives.

I found several other mentions, just not one from a particular piece of pop culture.

How convenient for you to ignore what I actually wrote.

It is.

Find me a link.
Ah pop culture....where anything can mean anything.

If its that common in pop culture there wouldnt just be 1 single reference that you cant find. There would be thousands.

You're desperate to find a link that isnt there.

As an aside, the existence of Sophie Monk and the Bachelorette has really polluted google.

https://books.google.com.au/books?i...A#v=onepage&q="i haven't been a monk"&f=false - This is a relatively common usage.

You're desperate to deny a link that isn't there.

I interpreted his role change to mean that he and The Advertiser have distanced themselves from each other somewhat. For Rucci it means he's got a bit more freedom in the quantity and type of content he provides them, but on the other hand, The Advertiser also has more freedom to reject his content.

To be fair that's pretty much the definition of indecent assault.
Maybe, but to most it would have a very different connotation .......on one hand Rowe (the town clown) is saying how great a lad SPP is .....on the other hand station management are trying to gather ratings / click bait, by character assassination

I have some sympathy for your overall point, but in reporting police matters there's an obligation to attempt to use the correct legal terminology where possible. It's not as if the article itself alleges things through speculation.

Not to defend what has happened at all, but the overall media response to this has reinforced my views that the saturation coverage of footy we're getting is to the overall detriment of the game.

Things from outside the football field, 12 month a year speculation about trade week, and gossip and innuendo about crap like training camps is all feeding the disgusting beast that is the AFL media. It honestly takes away my enjoyment of the game.
