It's just a bit disappointing, although I have only listened to it twice. Then again I only needed one listen to the '59 sound to have it stuck in the CD player for months.
Maybe that's just the type of LP this one is, a grower. I'll give it another listen in a week or two because it's a good album, it just hasn't caught me like the previous did.
Admittedly, it's not as immediately catchy as
The '59 Sound (one of the best albums of the past 5 years IMO), but on first listen, there's not a weak track on it. Consistently very, very good from start to finish, and will probably get even better on further listens.
The only issues I can see that some might have with it are that it's a bit short (just 39 minutes), and in an age of catchy singles, it's too album-ey, if that makes sense. I personally don't have a problem with either of those things, but some people might see them as things that hold it back from being considered an all-round great album.
as soon as i played this one a month ago or so i knew it was the first really great one i've heard this year. im not sure if it's out yet, but yeah...it's good. not as good as apologies to the queen mary, but still quality. get get get.
It's "available for download", if you get my drift

I got it the other day, but I'm yet to get around to listening to it. Official release date is July 29.
