I must get the new Jamie Lidell album, Jim was excellent.

It's just a bit disappointing, although I have only listened to it twice. Then again I only needed one listen to the '59 sound to have it stuck in the CD player for months.

Maybe that's just the type of LP this one is, a grower. I'll give it another listen in a week or two because it's a good album, it just hasn't caught me like the previous did.

Admittedly, it's not as immediately catchy as The '59 Sound (one of the best albums of the past 5 years IMO), but on first listen, there's not a weak track on it. Consistently very, very good from start to finish, and will probably get even better on further listens.

The only issues I can see that some might have with it are that it's a bit short (just 39 minutes), and in an age of catchy singles, it's too album-ey, if that makes sense. I personally don't have a problem with either of those things, but some people might see them as things that hold it back from being considered an all-round great album.

It's "available for download", if you get my drift ;) I got it the other day, but I'm yet to get around to listening to it. Official release date is July 29.
