HR is worse than Iris. He is not even funny, she does nothing for eps at a time so isnt as annoying. They try to put him at the forefront as they think he is funny.

The sooner they dump him and give the comedy back to cisco the better. He has robbed us of that as well.

I reckon he will be the one to fall victim to Savitar's blade. Surely his face hologram comes into play somehow.

The creators would need to weave Quick back into next year's storyline, so surely killing HR gives them reason for the old Wells to return.

In all fairness the guy is trying to process that a future him is responsible and also that he (basically) kills Iris.

The future Barry is pretty much going to know everything current Barry will do, the story is at a stand still.

I was all over the future flash thing, but was assuming it was Wally West. Because Wally is also the flash in the comics.

So savitar/future/time remnant barry actually looked like he might be inresting last week but all the use him for is to explain what he is and then dump him for the rest of the ep.

All barry needs to do is not make any time remnants in the final fight and savitar ceases to exist but they will use a loophole paradox bs explanation. They really should have put more thought into this season.

Agreed. It has been very last season Falling Skies esque in that despite only having 10 episodes they had about 7 filler episodes and then came up with some bullshit rushed ending. I'm getting very similar vibes watching this season.

Yeah fair enough. I thought s1 wasnt too bad its when thawne came back that they just decided to make up some quick bs to explain how he is still alive but I.didnt.care coz he is a great character.

They made us wait 19 eps to reveal the villian who I thought would be prominent with 3 eps to go but nope they dont even use him.

He wont be in next weeks ep much either going by the promo.

How good would it have been to see future barry really mess with team flash this week.

The episode this week seemed a total waste of time in the end, and it didn't really propel the plot forward. The story is still at a standstill of future Barry knowing every move current Barry is going to make before he makes it, so there's nothing current Barry can do to stop these events. The only way out of this quagmire is for the writers make up some magical bullshit to miraculously save current Barry in a total bullshit way.

It will be the old Bait and switch. also setup and payoff
Iris wasnt Iris, it was HR that got killed at the end. because the rule of 3, Setup [HR's pen that changes appearance early in the season] Reminder [Today Barry using it to look like Lyla. Payoff [HR using it to look like Iris and sacrifice himself to make up for his mistake and finally feel like he was a big part of team Flash] Also lets them bring DickWells back next season or a new Wells.

Even though it wasnt iris that was a bloody good ep.

Thought Joe was a goner for sure but good decision not to kill him off the show would suffer without him.

Just thinking when would have HR taken Iris' place though once he gave away that location Savitar went straight there and so this all had to be set up before hand.......yeah I dont know what happened.

Surely it wasn't Iris that becomes a human skewer.

As aussiedude touched on above; the random reminder about Wells' face switcher wasn't as random as it looks. Classic writer move refreshing the audience's mind before they work it into their plot twist.

Remember when Flash travelled to the future and Cisco vibed they both saw the future having changed with Wells suddenly on a rooftop with the laser gun. In tonight's episode it is instead Joe in Wells' place holding that exact gun. Makes me think that Wells went ahead and changed the future in some way; being the decoy and stand-in for Iris using the facial hologram switcher to sacrifice himself.

And what about Barry's reaction, as well as that of Joe etc. I hear you ask. It seemed as if they genuinely thought Iris was Iris. Well, Wells couldn't let anyone know of his plans of taking Iris' place as he would compromise everything given Savitar will 'remember' any new information passed on to Barry. Likewise, telling Joe and Cisco would also be just as risky as they wouldn't be able to naturally play along without giving away that Iris isn't actually Iris.

Additionally, the whole episode has the theme of sacrifice and teamwork running throughout; Captain Cold was willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good of the team. Not to mention Wells officially offering the Doc a spot in Team Flash AND Wells coincidently mentioning how he never felt a part of the team as he didn't serve a purpose.

If the finale transpires any difference from the above i'll be surprised. In fact, i'd love for the show to surprise me as it's scripting has been cliche and easy to read this season.

Everything this season has been pretty predictable, so I agree it would be refreshing if it was anything other than Wells as a Face decoy
My guess is Wells and Wally did the switch whilst Savitar and Barry were fighting with the cannon

HR couldn't haven taken Iris' place, she was snatched from Earth 2 immediately after HR accidentally revealed her location. And they couldn't have done it before they went to Earth 2 either because of the conversation between Iris and Joe on Earth 2 reminicising about the past (Stuff HR wouldn't know about). Wouldn't surprise me if the face changing tech played some other role in the finale but surely the writers aren't that stupid to do "Iris is HR" twist (I hope).

EDIT: Happy_Eagle makes a decent point about possibly doing the switch when Barry was firing the cannon. I hope not, still feels like a jumping the shark moment.
